2 years ~30mil left? That'll buy you a first round pick. If that's the market price than no wonder we can't get rid of Anderson
Caroll is overpaid and often injured. That being said , the Nets roster right now is MUCH better than the Bulls the Suns and Indiana's. Unless they suffer injuries, I can't see them even getting a top 3 pick at this point.
If this is the price to dump a 2yr/$30 million dollar deal for a serviceable Forward, then Rockets won't be able to trade that bum Anderson.
Indeed, the nets finally made the correct type of move. They've been irrelevant for so long, both during the season and in the offseason. Kudos for once.
If a team is looking to straight dump a salary for nothing in return to a team looking only for picks, then the price is going to be what it is. This was likely the case if the Rockets were to create cap room for a CP signing. For a Melo trade, however, we are not looking for "nothing"-- but rather a contract/player that NY would take in a trade. With the rumored Portland as third team scenario, for example, Portland has plenty of contracts that they themselves may not want due to duplication and $ amount but may be a player that NY can use. In fact, given NY's cap situation, getting "cap relief" from Melo's $ probably don't mean all that much.
Toronto had to dump him due to the signings of Lowry and Ibaka. Carroll when healthy, is a solid player. Nets are desperate and looking for NBA caliber players
Carroll contract: $14,800,000 | $15,400,000 Anderson contract: $19,578,455 | $20,421,546 | $21,264,635 I guess the reports of the two 1st rounders asked for taking Ryan contract were true after all.
That's a lot to give up, to get rid of him. It's no wonder that Morey is having an even harder time to trade Ryan Anderson.
Carroll is no longer a serviceable Forward. He was a 3 and D guy but injuries have ravaged him and he can't do either of those things anymore. Tells you a lot when you have to give up a 1st and 2nd round pick just to unload his contract. Raptors will be a good team for the next 3 years, so the 1st rounder will likely be in the late 20's -- not a huge deal. Good deal for both sides.
Why are people comparing Ryno to Carroll? Dude has played like garbage in Toronto - Ryno actually provides tangible value to a team.
