HOU in: Taurean Prince, Jeff Green HOU out: Chriss, Nene, one 1st, one 2nd round pick WAS in: Nene, one 2nd WAS out: Green ATL in: Chriss, one 1st ATL out: Prince HOU starters: Paul, Harden, Prince, PJ, Capela HOU playoff bench: Rivers, Gordon, Jeff Green, Faried We can do the same trade with Oubre instead of Prince, but Phoenix likely wants to keep him. Prince is a better 3pt shooter and has an extra year on his rookie contract. Jamychal Green would be an alternative for Jeff Green, but his contract is higher, so we would need to send more contracts out.
Simple trade here: I don't think anything higher than a future second would need to accompany the guys we're sending out to Miami. James Johnson and Wayne Ellington are the ultimate buy low candidates at this point and fit our needs/system perfectly.
House and a unprotected 1st plus Hart and the 2019 Rockets 2nd rounder might give us a fairish chance at acquiring Prince. Add Chriss plus another future 2nd to round out the numbers.
I'll get angry if Slow-Mo Kyle Anderson replaces Chriss, Ennis and Nene. It works on the ESPN Trade Machine. Even Ennis is slightly more useful than KA at this time. Sorry, this is not an idea, but it is a slight concern for me at this time.
This isn't about the player but asset acquisition. The only two questions are A) Can the Nuggets use that TPE in the offseason on something better and if not B) is a second round pick & cash enough compensation for $3.2m of that TPE. They have three trade exceptions - they cant be aggregated and all expire 7/19. Trade Exception (Wilson Chandler, expiring 7/6/19) — $12,800,562 Trade Exception (Kenneth Faried, expiring 7/13/19) — $13,764,045 Trade Exception (Darrell Arthur, expiring 7/13/19) — $5,919,961 Pretty much use it and get some return or lose it for nothing …. They could take back Chriss and get an asset and immediately cut him or buy him out. It depends on how they feel about the compensation - Is it enough ?
It looks like the clippers are pick loafing to trade for AD and looking at expirings to sign Kawhi. 3 Team Trade: Houston In: Gallinari, Bev, Mbah a Moute LA in: Evans, Young, 2019 rockets 1st, 2 rockets seconds Pacers in: 2020 rockets 1st, Gordon and Knight
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ybxwgww6 Suns Receive a first round pick from Houston (2019) San Antonio receives Knight + Chriss + 2 future second rounders. Houston receives Oubre + Gasol. Paul/Rivers Harden/ Ego Oubre/ Green / House PJ / Faried CC / Gasol If necessary trade some young guys like Edwards or Hartenstein to make this work. This is a small move on paper that gives the team a future starting three and depth to make a real run this year. Gasol is the perfect compliment to Faried. We need to pair him with a 4/5 who spaces the floor in the second unit.
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine It doesn’t look like Butler will be available and Harris is off the market. Available wings who can help us this year is dwindling. I don’t know if a 1st and Temple are enough to get Covington, but I think getting the best defensive 3 in the nba would be a huge boost. This trade helps all the teams involved and may be the best we can hope for. Houston in: Covington, J Green, Ellington Houston out: Knight, Chriss, Nene two 1sts, one 2nd Memphis in: Knight, Chriss, 1st via Houston Memphis out: J Green, Temple Minny in: Temple, 1st via Houston Minny out: Covington Miami in: Nene, 2nd via Houston Miami out: Ellington CP/Rivers Harden/EG Covington/Ellington J Green/PJ Capela/Faried I included Ellington because I’m not sure how the House situation will wind up. Ellington gives us more insurance. If we can get DJ or Wes Matthews from the buyout market, we would be fairly loaded and better than last years team.
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yb94lbx9 + 2 firsts to Boston. Rozier and Morris are not going to be valuable trade assets this offseason. Rozier will be either a QO or a RFA. Morris a UFA. Eric will give them extra salary to take on bad contracts in a trade for AD. The dialogue needs to be with New Orleans whether they like 2 Firsts and the ability to take on Hill on top of Tatum or Jaylen Brown + Tatum more.
I know what @Codman said, but I can't see a deal with Boston and Houston. That said, Morris and Rozier can't play into any AD deals because of Free Agency so I am not sure Boston's plan there. BUT, Boston wants to do well in the playoffs to keep Kyrie.
Yea I agree it's unlikely. But, weirdly, we keep overrating (including myself) Brown like he's a sure thing. His stats are down across the board this season. PPG, FG %, 3 Pt %, Rebounds, Assists. He's 22 and in his third season in the NBA. Nothing has displayed that he's going to be a superstar. It's the allure of playing for Boston and being a product of Ainge that creates an aura that players cannot shake. Kelly Oubre has similar stats across the board and I bet we could get him for a first rounder. He's actually longer and taller. He's less than a year older too.
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yajlhoy5 Rockets send draft compensation to the Hawks. Why Houston does it: Get out of the toxic CP3 contract and free up some much needed flexibility to make moves around Harden in the near future. Why Phoenix does it: They won't attract a star player and they desperately need a point guard, so they get CP3 to pair in the back court with Devin Booker. Why Atlanta does it: They get draft compensation in exchange for a salary bump, but they don't take any extra money beyond next season, so they're used as the salary dump.
Step away from the trade machine. The goal is to make the Rockets better, not worse. Also, the Rockets would be over the 109M cap next year with this trade (They would have to move both Plumlee and Knight to have 15 million in cap space, which isn’t going to get you a second superstar), so all you have essentially done is lower Tillman’s luxury tax bill, and piss James Harden off.
