When they tell you to your face... "[Trump] still considers himself to be in the hospitality business."

Mulvaney has so many foot in mouth moments every time he's on camera. The damage control this guy does intent on helping Trump's image only fans the flames further. The President is more concerned with putting on a spectacle with world leaders than actually leading the country it seems. Great damage control there dipshit. What a garbage administration.

This is the way it's supposed to work. The media acts as a watchdog and provides an unofficial check. I also suspect it was just the media and public outcry over this but also that lawyers and others were telling him privately that this was much more fuel for the impeachment fire.

I suppose it is. I just think during the press conference when Mulvaney announced the initial location of the G-7 Summit, it was still a minor story compared to open admittance later on of treason with the Ukraine scandal. This is bad, but it's small potatoes compared to publicly admitting the President and his administration are sellouts to the United States.

Kelly had the commonsense to let the spokespeople who weren't directly involved with decisions to front the media. Avoid risk of damaging admissions coming out, and they always had the out of "I wasn't there, you'll have to ask the President yourself". As Chief of Staff, he not only fails to use his press team, he goes out and exposes himself lol.

For some reason Mulvaney reminds me of Pryce in Better Call Saul. I guess it's the fact they both look similar and appear to be in way over their heads with how they openly conduct criminal activity.

Pulling back doesn't really make it better. Like an iceberg, 90% of corruption can't be seen. That he tries to engage in corruption in public tells you where his heart is and you know meanwhile that there's plenty of other stuff he can do that we won't ever learn about. Forcing him to cancel this particular corrupt act doesn't make him not corrupt in his core.

Is it corruption if he told you up front? Its a one time event. Its not like he's been funneling government events to his properties since inauguration

Well, number one, yes he has been funneling events to his properties since his inauguration. But, two, yes if he tells you up front for a one time event, it is absolutely self-dealing and corrupt. Not sure why you would think otherwise.

Think of it this way -- you're on the Board of Directors for a major publicly-traded company. The CEO announces he has awarded a big contract to a vendor, and that vendor happens to be a company he himself owns privately. But, he assures you, he gave the company a good deal -- he can't share the details, but it's a bigly good deal. As a Board member, should you say 'well, it's just one contract'? I don't think it's controversial to speculate that most corporate boards would fire such a CEO.

If your wife told you up front she just banged a dude back from her college days in your master bedroom at home less than an hour ago, is it still cheating? I mean she told you up front and it was just a one time thing.

    This is how you read.
