Alvarez is earning his way into the 3rd spot or cleanup. We know Springer will lead off. Correa and Bregman may very well bat in the 5/6 spots.

2-6 and 7-9 have a lot of wiggle room depending on matchups and performance. In a perfect world, Altuve takes that 2nd hole back all for himself.

Yep, nothing wrong with this one either, especially if Correa comes back as good Correa.

Bregman while hitting .263 still has the 3rd highest OPS on the team behind Alvarez and Springer. Still have him hitting 3rd. If Alvarez is able to keep it up for a prolonged period of time I would move him to 4th.

    1. Springer
    2. Altuve
    3. Bregman
    4. Brantley
    5. Correa
    6. Alvarez
    7. Chirinos

I know this is premature, but Alvarez is the best hitter on this team. He needs to be 1,2,3 Get him as many at bats as possible.

    It needs to be

    Springer
    Bregman
    Alvarez
    brantley
    correa
    altuve
    chirinos
    reddick
    gurriel

Springer and Bregman have best 2 OBP other than Yordan.

This is probably the greatest lineup in astros history. It might be one the best lineups I can think of in the last 30 years. If we can get Tucker up for Gurriel and he can produce a 800 ops pretty much every one except reddick would have 800+ ops which is crazy.

Alvarez needs to be no lower than 4 in the order even with everyone healthy.

    CF Springer
    LF Brantley
    2B Altuve
    DH Alvarez
3B Bregman (His OBP makes him viable anywhere from 2-5).
    SS Correa (RBI machine)
    RF Reddick
    1B Gurriel
    C Chirinos

Even if he hits the inevitable rough stretch at some point? Have you noticed he expands his strike zone inside and up? MLB pitchers are not stupid.

Too many variables to determine this now, other than it's fun to have some of these potential problems.

    Springer
    2-6
    7-9
    Profit.

I love Yordan as much as the next Stros fan. Placing him 6th in this lineup is really difficult, but more of a testament to the other hitters in our lineup. Plus he's just 21, though his approach doesn't show it. I wavered with switching 4-6 a bit, but that's my gut with how Hinch would set the lineup. Who knows. What a f'ing blessing to have this many potent hitters.

Alvarez has been on fire all year and hasn’t missed a beat since being called up to the majors. Ride his wave as long as you can. Would hate to see his ABs go down. He will probably hit a good slump eventually but imo they should maximize his production in the middle of the order for as long as they can.

No doubt, but is this the "right now when Springer's back Tues" lineup or the ideal "Sept/Oct lineup" we're talking about?

I'm just not ready to pencil in Alvarez or Altuve (or Correa) into the latter yet.

I have a feeling Hinch is going to put Correa and Altuve in their regular spots because of seniority and past accomplishments. But if Alavrez continues to be anywhere near his historic pace he should be in the middle of the order long term.

In no world is Bregman a 6 hole hitter on this or any other team. Here are the realistic spots each player can hit:

    Springer 1-5
    Bregman 1-4
    Brantley 2-6
    Altuve 1-4
    Correa 3-6
    Alvarez 3-6
    Reddick 2, 5-9
    Gurriel 5-9
    Chirinos 5-9
    White 5-9
    Diaz 5-9
    Stassi 9
    Marisnick 7-9
    Kemp 8-9
