There should be heated debate among economic and health minds about the right path forward. This is how you get to the right balance for society of economic and health factors. Doctors are notoriously bad at erring on the side of "take no risk" when in many cases, that's not the right answer for many people. Some risk is acceptable if you want to get the benefits of a developing drug or maintain order in society (economic health, jobs, etc). I bet a lot of the people who died from COVID wish they could have tried some of the drugs that Fauci is poor mouthing.

    Navarro’s PhD is in Economics.

That said, the only thing he knows about virus / epidemics / disease is that he doesn’t understand it

Peter Navarro has a Phd in Economics, so naturally he is world renown epidemiologist.

If you have plumbing issues on your house, would you prefer an electricians opinion over a plumber? I wonder what would be the risk if you start breaking walls based on an electricians opinion?

False choice and very poor argument. Fauci's recommendations have implications far beyond the field of medicine, his expertise. You need a mix of talented experts in many fields to come to the right policy decision.

What is false about the analogy? Peter Navarro has already said that his understanding of medecine is based on READING articles. Would you take the opinion of an electrician who claims knowledge about plumbing because he watches tons of youtube video?

It's really not an argument worth having with that poster. No one takes seriously the opinion of the uneducated in a field over the actual world-renowned expert.

Surprised Navarro had Trump's pee-pee out of his mouth long enough to say something in a meeting.

A snake like Navarro wouldn't be be sniping at Fauci and bragging about it in public if he didn't believe it would win him favor with the boss...

You guys would find a lot more peace on this BBS if you treated TJ posts like sub-par the Onion satire.

The Iraq War was one of the few times I found myself aligned with Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr.

If the Captain can be fired for going out of the chain of command, Navarro needs to be held accountable for overstepping his domain.

But this isn't to be unexpected. It is the result of having someone in charge who has less than zero leadership skills. It is the way he has designed his administration as well as the way he rewards and punishes those who are beneath him in the chain of command.

...aaaaand that's where your argument fails. Finding a cure, or even therapeutic relief, for COVID, has major economic implications. Navarro is there to attend to economic policy. This is very much in his "domain".
