Is Khashoggi’s disappearance really a turning point with Saudi Arabia?
    https://newrepublic.com/minutes/151693/khashoggis-disappearance-really-turning-point-saudi-arabia

Media outlets, major companies, and global leaders are condemning Saudi Arabia for its apparent role in the death of U.S.-based journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who vanished after entering the country’s embassy in Turkey. The New York Times, The Economist, The Washington Post, Uber, and Viacom have pulled out of the country’s Future Investment Initiative in Riyadh. Tom Friedman and other centrist pundits who had previously cheered the country’s crown prince, Mohammed Bin Salman, as a bold reformer, are recoiling. K Street lobbyists, happy to cash checks from the Gulf State for decades in spite of its abominable human rights record, are now getting cold feet. And a bipartisan group of 22 senators are pushing to block a $110 billion arms deal with Saudi Arabia that was announced last year.

Not a Washington post journalist, but he had written guest columns there. So too could any of us if we wrote well and had something to say.

When asked about canceling the arms deal with Saudi Arabia, Trump only started talking about money. His priorities are clear.

Trump knows Saudi is a cash cow that will keep short term numbers high. Period.

All Republicans and the o&g industry know that.

This isnt new or something on the verge of changing.

Unless Saudi physically attacks another nation they are untouchable.

trump is in need of a shining object to divert attention away from this embarrassing---for him and Kushner---Saudi mess.

perhaps a trade agreement w China and then declare victory

Here is the problem. Donald Trump is making money from the Saudi royal family. They spend tons on the Trump Hotel in DC and elsewhere. It was Donald Trump's first visit as President.

Because Trump refused to divest himself from his finances, he is conflicted. He can't be trusted to deal with them with any kind of unbiased approach.

    ME Merde alors?
I'm saddened but not quite surprised, all the signs of a new Dictator into making were prevalent since early 2016.

Mr.Jamal's voice of moderiation, wisdom, courgue and patriotism won't be replaced anytime soon

I hope there will be severe consequences, and justice to be served but that's just a hope, I watched Arabic RT,they were hosting Russian lawyers who suggested/proposed all what MBS should do, which gave me the feeling that he may join glynch's team of wonderful but misunderstood Dictators

#sammy, those mouthpieces of ayatoallah, should stay away from human Rights biz even if you were accdeintly interested in such things, the difference here is clearly I won't support criminal like you guys do

So you think the reports that he was murdered inside the consulate are true?

As a sidenote, a question to you and anyone else who reads Arabic - is a website called Elaph popular in the region? Is it moderate/liberal? Would their journalists also be in danger? Thank you.

When the Lebanese Prime Minister was bizarrely held under house arrest in Saudi Arabia last year, that proved to me MBS' dark side outweighed the notion of him being a reformer. Canceling the IPO for Aramco was the nail in the coffin. Vision 2030!

Idiotically, Trump bet the farm on this guy from the beginning of his presidency. I expect him to do everything possible to shield MBS from accountability. We can only hope public outrage will force his hand.

I would not be surprised if MBS does not survive to become king. He cannot be an iron-fisted dictator obsessed by paranoia AND implement economic liberalization. The world business community won't give him enough life support to succeed.

Liberal media are not us citizens. They’re one notch above enemy combatants.

Saudi is a beautiful country. And every beautiful country has a Trump Resort for you to stay in. The best experience money can offer!

The truth is not relevant, he flirted with Israel, abandoned Syrians rebels, was not tough enough with Iran, made unnecessary enemies, his economical plans didn't do well, many would be happy to see him gone regardless
Media outlets are either Saudi paid contents or Qatari, benefits must out weighted the danger since demands still running strong for such jobs
Hezbualh killed his father, named a streat after his father killers, that didn't sway him from shaking hand with them, his primary concern is to take his commission from the 70 Billions Saudi charity, hard to see any sincere sympathy for him

MBS was Obama's pick before the Trump's romance

They are far more trustworthy that the right-wing media in the US.

Incredible that the President's son is smearing a US resident that was murdered in a Saudi Embassy. This administration is sinking to lows that go beyond criminal. Truly a treasonous administration - they should all be locked up at the very least.

Both the UAE and Saudi's launched attacks against the rebels. Not an act of war.

Yemen is in the midst of a 3 year civil war , tens of thousands of casualties, UAE also backs govt against rebels supported by Iran. It's not a nation with more oil reserves like Kuwait where intervention would prove profitable. The rebels compromise all the humanitarian aid Yemen gets, which feeds most of their people. Also, republicans aren't going to make up excuses to get involved with a country that barely produces any oil that is fast depleting. Do you just like to instigate because you are behind a screen, or do you genuinely care for news?

There's a recording and additional evidence. Probably from them bugging the consulate. He was seen walking in, never came out and the Saudi's still haven't let anybody enter.

You would have to be a ****ing idiot to not think that in all likelihood he was killed by them.
