Being under contract has stopped who from asking for a trade?

The Texans really had a problem giving this guy a starting job but had no problem giving one to Seantrel Henderson.

Eh there was one poster saying this. Penn in his very own words said he's a starting caliber LT with multiple years left so I'm guessing he wants to be paid accordingly. There are a lot of teams that could use a guy like Penn along their OL, there's something else that's holding everyone back IMO.

His PFF score in 2018 as a RT was 47. He lost his LT job to rookie who had a PFF score off 48.2. By comparison, Kendall Lamm was 64.7 and Davenport was 54.9. Matt Khalil's grade in 2017 was 64.1. Giacomini's was 45.4.

And 31 other teams have passed on him as a backup, much less as a starter. He is currently a FA.

And he missed 12 games with injury.

    And he is 37.

And I would still take him over Kalil and Henderson. Both who are also coming off injuries. And neither was ever as good as Penn has been.

Penn's injuries obviously affected his low grade last year. You bring him in as a starter and if he gets outplayed by a rookie you bench him.

It is precarious that he hasnt been signed yet. Part of me thinks he is pulling a Dallas Keuchel but it might be something else

Dang damaged good after 1 injury. Give the youngster a shot first before making this type of claim.

How many guys have ever made it back to close to the production they had before this type of injury?

I do think Foreman will be better than Blue before he gets injured again.

The news of Clowney not signing by the deadline almost guarantees what my fear was with this situation all along. The Texans fully intend on letting him walk for a 3rd round compensatory pick instead of trading him.

Just a straight up clown show over in that building. Can't get the GM you want, so hire your 5th option. Fire 5th option a year later, fail again to get your GM. Move forward with no one. One of your top players you burn a bridge with by not negotiating with a reasonable offer, if your intention is to not sign him long term then you need to trade him. Im no chemist, but I can promise you, a late 1st round pick, or starting left tackle, cough williams cough, beats out a compensatory 3rd every day.

Just blows my mind how unbelievably inept this group is.

And you would be a DUMBASS. Texans are not letting Clowney walk in 2020. They can franchise tag him again (affordable) and either sign or trade him. They could also make him play under it again. However, he is not walking in 2020. If you don't know anything.....don't speak.
