I intentionally didn't take into account the UDFAs. It would be a shock if they cut a player they just drafted, even if it was in the 7th round. Gipson can play both safety positions, I think he is better as a FS actually. I think they could stick with 3 safeties to have an extra CB on the roster. I said one of Kalil or Davenport won't make it and Mancz is probably on the bubble. None of the tight ends they have can block like Fells. There is nothing Akins can do that the other tight ends can't do. Agreed. I can see Akins or Kahale going on IR. I think they can just cut Kalil instead of stashing him on IR; he's on a 1 year contract. He just has to beat Davenport to stay on the team. Barring injury to any of the other guys of course. Yes Joe Webb was signed. You know, he's versatile. Agreed on Higdon but I didn't take into consideration the UDFAs. The UDFA RBs played well last year but they still didn't make the team. We'll see. They cut their 5th round pick (Decoud) so I can see them cutting Akins if he's badly outplayed by the other guys. Keeping Ryan Griffin will make things even more complicated if everyone stays healthy. Maybe Akins gets the IR like it was previously suggested. They need more bodies at WR Don't we all wish Clowney plays at DE. Right now I'll just take him being on the team this year. Don't know what to expect from the CBs, they are all average to slightly above average for different reasons IMO. Calhoun could make it because of special teams. Who knows.
Joe Webb lol BOB will get over that "versatily" thing...will he? Got me with Decoud (thought they gave him 2 seasons) Akins had better numbers (outside of touchdowns) than Fells. Plus, he's 6 years younger. I don't see why they would choose Fells over Akins. Unless, it's blocking. Kahale probably will be second on the depth chart at TE. Putting him on IR will slow his development since he wouldn't be able to practice, just attend meetings. Plus, he will be able to go sit on the outside as a receiver at times. Just ease him in throughout the year. I like Jordan Thomas a lot. We could have duel TEs but Kahale might become the starter in 2020. Didn't think of Calhoun being specifically for special teams. Good thought. But isn't that what Bademosi is suppose to be specialized in? Can't have two corners that can only play special teams. That has to be partially the reason Gillaspia was drafted.
Um...7th rounders are cut ALL the time. Go look at past Texan 7th rounders. Thomas was a very good blocker at TE last season. You have to have 4 safeties on the roster, even if someone can play both positions. The Texans will use 3 safeties on the field in certain formations. You are not going to NOT have a backup.
@J.R. got a transcript? https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sp...r&utm_campaign=socialflow&utm_medium=referral
There's no news of this anywhere. Would like for you to be right but don't see the Texans getting him.
