    I know, I'm just getting occasionally (or more often than that) frustrated with guys watching the 1 or 1 of the 2 hittable pitches they will see each AB, especially with guys on base. Being selective on the edges is great. Watching **** right in the middle of the plate is one of my biggest pet peeves.

    I think that's why they coined the phrase "situational hitting".

    No really such thing as "clutch".

    "Situational", definitely.

    Looking at just z-swing and o-swing plate discipline numbers for 2018 vs 2017, Correa's are closer together than almost everyone on the team. Looking at May numbers, they are still pretty similar. His overall swing % has dropped from 42.2% all the way down to 42.1%. Only thing I see that is off by him is that he's taking a larger percentage of strikes down the middle of the plate (though we aren't talking a big sample size).

    Why not just insert McHugh here?

    Correa right now looks like April Correa from last year, (I blew up on him during the series in Cleveland);

    he rebounded pretty, pretty well.

    Home offense for several of these guys needs to pick up.

    Also: we have 1 too many pitchers in the bullpen right now.

    Because they are quite literally struggling to find enough innings for the bullpen to pitch with regularity. The rotation has been that good.

    Yep, Hinch has some lineup juggling to do. I'm sure everyone will hate whatever he does.

    He is not trying to be selective down the middle. Problem is he's having a tough time reading fastball versus breaking pitch or he's hunting breaking balls. I don't see that as being passive. Aggressive hitters go through the same problem except they are swinging wildly at balls in the dirt. Result is the same except it is more socially acceptable to go down swinging.

    That's not my point at all. I'm just talking approach, when you *need* to swing the bat to drive in runs, as opposed to working a walk and leaving it up to the next guy. That's another conversation for another day and I do have to run back to outdoor reality. Unless you think Giles will pitch the 9th? I'd stay around for that.

    Fewest runs (eta: in 50 games) in the "live ball era" ~1920

    That's pretty ****ing strong.

    Coming out of the hitting slump while the pitching continues to utterly dominate. The rest of the AL should be concerned.

    So basically, you want guys to not trust their teammates.

    Took care of business, should have won both and we did.

    One run over 6 innings, and Verlander actually raised his ERA to a comical 1.08.
