Just the facts, his glove is the only thing keeping him on this team when that starts deteriorating then it’s goodbye golden boy.
He flubbed a fly ball on the run and lost a tough play in the sun, he didn't just suddenly forget how to play CF. (oh, he also has the 2nd highest OPS on the team vs LHP, behind Altuve) Premature e-speculation.
I'm not worried about the Yankees pitching as much if our lineup is at full strength. Meanwhile, Verlander and Cole could still have a ton of success with their full strength lineup.
He is, like we've talked about, a bench player/spot starter being thrust into an almost full time gig; that usually does not work out in the long-term for said bench player. Put him back in his rightful place - starting with JV and sometimes other flyball pitchers or against certain LHP; as a defensive replacement, PR. He is who he is and we've known that for years now, but circumstances have dictated him doing more, and I imagine it's taken a toll on him physically also.
I can't wait to see the Stros go on another 10 game winning streak and see the comments shift again in here
Rundown and busted Marisnick seems to be playing better than Reddick when I watch. Granted I've missed the defensive fluffs he's had recently.
Marisnick is not a problem for the Astros. He has a solid OPS and is a glove first reserve. Far more concerned about how a system as good as the Astros cannot seem to develop good bullpen arms. We are going to need to trade for another good late inning reliever this deadline and if possible, a starting pitcher.
I agree. Since LMJ was called up, homegrown pitchers of ours have been very....... shaky, to say the least. Most of the pitching help we acquired since his callup was via trade or FA. Devo, James, and Framber, I believe, have been the best 3 post-Lance pitching call ups, and they've all been very inconsistent. What you said about developing our own pitchers is somewhat concerning.
It actually is better than I had thought although Straws is a little better and Kemps is worse. Curious who gets sent down when Springer is healthy, most likely Straw.
