Wasn't it the 3rd inning when we talked about the fewer runs he gets, the better he pitches?

That's as close as I got to saying anything.

Pretty crazy how there were some in here who were staunchly against trading for him at either of the deadlines.

Of course even Luhnow couldn’t have expected him to be this good.

Yankees fans: not a real no hitter if it is combined.

    Verlander. Watch this.

Did that happen, I don't remember? I hope I didn't say anything stupid.

I do know that the 2 best trades in Astros history: Bagwell and Verlander, would not have happened under the new rules. They were both 8/31 deals. If Luhnow had the ability, would he have traded for what reliever this week, now that our guys have been dropping like flies?

I'd like to think the flies just need to get their head on strait. Bad Augusts haven't been the doom of the team yet, lets think a couple guys we have written off return to form in September.

    Huh?

If we could have traded for relief help yesterday or days before, given all that's happened since the trade deadline with McH/Peacock/Pressly/etc...you don't think Luhnow would have?

I wasn't really replying to that part of your statement. More about swatting flies

As far as trades in September, well, my brain cant process that thought properly right this moment :D

Mike Stanton: "I didn't say it!"

After one of the innings going into break I thought Kalas mentioned the Astros had the only two hits in the game.

Well, I had a fun weekend in San Antonio and wouldn't trade it for anything, but I ended up missing this gem. Looks like it'll be repeated on ATTSW tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. Already set the DVR.

Bad August? 19-9 with a +91 run differential....or do you mean something else.

I think he will hit.. and I think he will field 3rd well... run well and be a really good player for a long time. I know the numbers are not pretty right now but I have a decent level of confidence in him. I wouldn’t be shocked if he ends up replacing Carlos DL in the line up.

He'll be fine. He's got a great approach at the plate, a good eye, and pop from both sides. He's better at 3B than I expected, no reason he couldn't play 1B/2B/LF on a Marwin-level eventually.

I know I was practically begging Luhnow to trade for him. There were others on here firmly supporting trading for JV, but you’re right, some poo pooed the idea of trading for JV calling him washed up.

Ken Giles giving up the game winning homer was just so sweet, and utterly poetic.

As a side note... if anyone is curious, Larry Corcoran was the first pitcher to 3 no hitters and is a really interesting story. A sure fire Hall of Famer that had a dead arm by 25 and 3 No hitters by age 24. A great story.

Load management in the 1800's was not well received...
