Enormous sum of money ($400Gs) received for speaking engagement at Wall St firm. That's twice what Hillary demanded for her Wall St speeches. Then he took another $400 Grand speech in New York for a cable network.

    All over the news

"Why pay such large sums of money to hear someone speak? Company meetings, industry conventions and educational seminars can be ho-hum affairs. Few things can inject a jolt of excitement–or draw a paying crowd–quite like a famous speaker or someone with a compelling story to tell.

Just ask Bill Zanker, founder and president of the Learning Annex. Zanker hired Trump in 2005 to speak at three real estate investing seminars for $1 million a pop. Those went so well that the company proceeded to hire The Donald for another 17 seminars in 2006 and 2007 for $1.5 million each. Zanker claims that he’s turned a profit on every event, where admission prices top out around $500. He also co-authored Trump’s 2007 book Think Big And Kick Ass In Business And Life.

“He’s worth every penny,” Zanker says. “I’ve been doing this for 30 years. There is no better business speaker than Donald Trump. He attracts the biggest crowds in the world.”

It doesn't really matter, if someone pays to hear you speak go get that bread.

Liberals hate everything ... unless it puts money in their pocket and garners them a vote.

I wonder if Pence would take 400k to speak at a Planned Parent Hood meetings. Ah forgot, they dont have any money.

Too many women at those meetings. His wife wouldn't allow it.

Seriously... When was it immoral to use the massive experiences you have to get paid to speak to people?

This isn't some paritisan bullshit talk from me either. I've never been concerned with any GOP politicians making money from speeches. Never b****es about it once.

Obviously Texxx is coming from a partisan angle here as he would never criticize a GOP politician for the same deed.

Yea, you are right, if they agreed to work with Trump "smart" can't be a consideration. Though someone actually thought Trump was worth millions:

Say... if we want to lessen the connection between politics and corporate dollars, maybe we should take a second look at US Supreme Court decisions that strengthened corporate dollar influence in politics?

Obama is out of office and will never hold public office again. How is this a conflict of interest?

Trump paid billions by Rosneft to lift sanctions to help him get elected. Quid pro quo

Obama isn't anti-Wall St or anything. I don't see a problem. Cashing in on speaking engagements is the new way to monetize high public office. Bill Clinton was probably the first to make it big-time, but lots of Dems and Republicans do it now. And, it's probably better that it's an industry now and that a president can expect he'll get big speaking fees and book deals no matter what his politics are. If that market wasn't liquid, there could be potential for presidents' decisions to be colored by a desire to please this or that corporate interest. But, in the market today, you can rest assured someone will pay you to present.

yes and...nothing new, nothing old. After all, Trump's making huge amounts of money off the government right now. Most of the main party politicians are corporatist. Trump likes to act like he's not..but he really is.

Sanders and Paul are the only recent big-name politicians that had any real integrity

Besides, Obama's NOT in office anymore - he can take $10,000,000 in speaking fees for from Wall Street for all I care. This is in NO way a concern.

"FAKE NEWS" because he's on your team. What the GOP does post-Obama. Disgraceful. FAKE PATRIOTS.

Imagine this was Obama or Hillary. Look at you making a big deal about $400K speeches.

Exactly. The irony is killing me.

Barack Obama is no longer in office and will not be in a policy-making position again. Therefore, concerns about this influencing his legislative priorities are moot.

It was an issue with Hillary because everyone knew she would be running for president while giving those speeches.

    Use facts and logic, texxx.

It's a manufactured issue in both cases.
