This is freakin awesome. More needs to be done about medical costs that seem to rise and fall depending on someone having insurance or not, but it’s a big step.
Reminds of the time I price shopped a CT scan. I wanted to pick a provider that was cheap for my insurer instead of myself (an experiment in the pricing discipline of free markets I guess). The providers couldn’t tell me mostly. One of them researched it and told me a few days later. Anyway I think it is a good development though probably not a silver bullet. It is too complicated for retail consumers but can we be packaged up for consumers by other companies to create some price competition.
