This was inevitable and the timing makes sense. The NFL has the leverage over its players that the NBA doesn’t with superstar power. You’d have to get a consensus with all the star qb’s including Tom Brady which just won’t happen.

Most of the NFL owners are Trumps true base and the donor class that benefits from his policies. The kneeling thing was old news until Trump pushed it and pushed it some more and forced this type of stand off that ultimately will hurt the league and the owners who don’t really need the league to be dominant when at the end of the day they are still fat ass billionaire elites. They could have shut Trump up who was using the NFL for political gain, but the truth is, most of them probably agree with him and have an autocratic view of the way THEIR players should stay in line. It’s not about disrespecting the flag ... in the end it’s about THEM.

So F it. I couldn’t stand the NFL for awhile anyways. The game is nothing but a commercial for the viagra and beer ads anyways. Long and drawn out when I’ve got better things to do with my Sunday’s. More time to focus on the Rockets and Astros.

I’m secure enough in my own patriotism to not let someone kneeling for the national anthem bother me.

why is it ok for trump to say POWs are not heroic b/c they were captured, but its disrespectful for nfl players to kneel during the national anthem?

 

If the criteria for being in this country is standing proudly for the national anthem, a lot of folks will have to be sent out of this country. Pretty sure the vast majority don’t stand proudly every time they hear the national anthem being played, including the current President.

 

In other news... President Trump is deporting hundreds of thousands of Americans with disabilities who are unable to stand for the National Anthem.

 

The irony of forcing someone to stand for the flag that represents a country where souls far braver than me fought to create and preserve our freedoms is laughable.
