I watched the first 2 seasons of Narcos, but haven't started season 3 yet. Anybody care to give me a spoiler free review of Season 3? What did y'all think?
diego luna gets surgery to look like "gayle" garcia but before the operation is finished, he has a heart attack. But wait....the toxins revive him and turn him into the first zombie narco. From the writers of the walking dead and fear the walking dead and loathe the walking dead, we give you "Zombie narcos."
He was great in End of Watch and has been in plenty of good films. The only time i thought he was horrible was that Netflix movie Extinction which is probably why Netflix went for him for Narcos. They also probably wanted a familiar face instead of casting some unknown Mexican. Diego Luna is the only other Mexican actor out there it seems and he's also in it. Gael Garcia Bernal? Who else? I haven't started it yet, but i also assume Pena is playing some Mexican American? I've never heard him speak Spanish. I think he's a Chicano from LA that doesn't really speak Spanish so if he's in a role where he has to speak a lot of Spanish, then i'll probably cringe at the hard accent. I tried one episode of Mayans and i couldn't get through how cringe it was to hear all these Chicano's from LA trying to speak Spanish(Spanglish). They're horrible actors anyway though. I expect higher quality from Narcos obviously. Apparently though, accent's have always been an issue. Brazilian Portuguese speaking actors, and other South American country spanish speakers apparently had bad Colombian accents. But Americans and Europeans can't tell the difference.
. El Chapo gives some solid relationship advice and movie recommendations. The cameos were spectacular. It was like when spawn crossed paths with batman in the 1994 classic comic!
Actually Michael Pena's Spanish was good. It didn't seem out of place or unnatural, especially in dialogue with native Spanish speakers. His character is a DEA agent that has to blend in and infiltrate these cartels, so I'm sure he worked his butt off to sound like he's from Mexico. I know what you mean about that hard accent. This is why I can't stand Robert Rodriguez's movies.
