So let me get this straight ... when a liberal tells a Trumplican who is freaking out about Antifa that there’s nothing to be worried about because ... the military has actual firepower, that’s acceptable, but when talking about the military’s firepower over “good ole boy Trumplicans” who take up arms against the government, that is cause for creating a thread so we can all yell past each other???

Snowflakes... chill the F out. Nobody is taking away your damn guns, and Antifa nor will good ole boy Trump fans from bumF America overpower the US Military.

There’s no reason for the freak out... and Swallwell, even if he wins the presidency, won’t be able to pass gun legislation without 2/3 vote. Only other politician who proposed taking away your guns (but he said he’d do it without due process) is your boy Trump, and he’s not doing that either.

 

So I'm a citizen of three countries, my dad was born in sussex, england, my mother in houston, texas and i was born in Australia, i've lived in all three at various times in my life. The discussion of Australia's gunlaws are completely misleading, while there are federal laws on the book, australia doesn't have a supremacy clause in the same way the us does, unless its set out in the constitution (taxes, marriage, a few others), the states have supremacy with conflicting laws.

It started out with an agreement with the states, but gun laws have been gradually watered down at state level for years, we have much stricter licensing than the US undoubtedly, but there really isn't a great deal in the way of someone getting a gun in a few states anymore but the gun crime continues to decline, and those laws and subsequent changes have played no part in the trend of murders, what they eliminated was mass shootings, not murders, and the politician who enacted them has said as much about its purpose.

So please stop using Australia as your Bernieclown gun version of "socialist" Denmark.

As for this politician? well this seems to be from the Trump playbook, he went with outlandish exaggeration, now he's in the news, it appealed to the partisan, was hated by the other partisans and now we know who he is.

I guess I don't get triggered like nra sycophants. because I don't have an argument with what Salwell said. I think the idea that gun owners have their guns in case they want to battle the United States armed forces is ridiculous. And I think its time that both sides of the gun rights/control argument start workig togther on a solution.

 

This is a protective order for a case where if someone is a suicide risk or posting threats online or something. How is this in any way related? Laws like this have been in place for years in virtually every state and so far haven’t led to a police state where your beloved gun rights are abused.

 

I like to point out that we should blame the killed for not following the law and acting proper. This is one standard reaction so just throwing it out there now. This is by no mean that I agree or disagree with the actions of all involved because I frankly didn’t read much of any of the story.

 

Representative Eric Swalwell should learn to shut his mouth.

He is already known as odd, with his bizarre debate against an actor when his opponent would not debate him.

 

I dont know much about nukes but are they containable to one household or would many families get wiped out every time the government deployed one. This would help me side with you on nuking Americans. Until then, I would side with not going the nuclear route.

 

I don't have a problem with court approved protective orders to temporarily remove guns from someone that is proven to be a potential threat to a Judge.

Further I don't think people that have had a domestic conviction against them or have been convicted of any violent crime should have ownership of a gun.

There are certain behaviors that cross the line.

 

Yeah.... we aren't going the nuclear route.....

 

I should be able to own and maintain my own nuclear weapon. Clearly the Founders would've wanted my personal arsenal to be on-par with that of a hostile federal government.
