The other night, after thumbing through the TV channels and saying 'Oh cool, Deadpool's on'.. and watching the last half of it yet again, laughing at things yet again that I have already laughed at 100 times.. I got to wondering..

Deadpool is such an immensely re-watchable movie, at least for me. It never seems to get old, and it seems like I see new little details each time, that I never noticed before.

So, what other movies in 2016 were really 're-watchable'? You know the kind of movie - like Big Trouble in Little China, Jaws, Pitch Perfect or The Matrix.. movies that I will happily just sit and watch if I come across them. Sometimes great movies, and sometimes just plain silly.. like Get Hard. Silly movie, but hilarious and have re-watched it multiple times.

It's kind of hard to always remember which years some of these movies were released, but in 2016, there didn't seem to be as many that I really wanted to re-watch. And of course, we still have two months to go essentially, and with Fantastic Beasts, Arrival, Rogue One, Assassin's Creed and who knows what else, it may still be a big year for multiple viewings, but SO FAR..

    Deadpool, check, by far.

    Civil War, check.

I was HOPING for Suicide Squad to be one, but it's really not re-watchable as a whole movie, just for little bits and pieces.

There really wasn't much for me in 2016.. that's not to say there weren't plenty of movies I LIKED, just that very few of them made it into the 'I'll watch that any time I see it on' category.

For reference, I looked back at 2015 and 2014.

In 2015 there were several more:
    Fury Road
    Inside Out
    Force Awakens
    The Martian
    Spy
What We Do in the Shadows (AWESOME if you have not seen it yet, WATCH IT!)
    Ant Man
    Get Hard
    Man from UNCLE
And I'm sure there must be others too..

    In 2014:
    Edge of Tomorrow
Dawn of Planet of the Apes
    WINTER EFFIN SOLDIER
    Big Hero 6
    JOHN EFFIN WICK
    And more I'm sure..

What are you guys' most re-watchable movies of the year? I'm curious, if I missed out on something good, I need to catch up!

And like I said, hopefully the holiday season will give us 3 or 4 more which will fall into that category.

Hell or High Water deserves at least two viewings, and I've only seen it once so far. Can't wait, TBH.

The Nice Guys will have a line or two you didn't catch or even think was funny on the 1st watch but will on the 2nd or 3rd.

I generally don't like 3D movies, and I've seen Dr Strange in both standard and 3D IMAX, I think it is one movie that actually benefits from 3D in certain parts and I didn't find the 3D to be just an annoying gimmick like I do in most movies. So yeah, I'd recommend watching it in 3D IMAX if possible but it's a very enjoyable movie either way IMO.

I think there is watch again because you get something more out of it like say Inception, or it's brilliant, and then there is watch again because it's midnight and for no apparent reason a rewatch will mindlessly entertain, like Starship Troopers.

    Category Brilliant:

    Category Mindless views:

    Star Trek Beyond
    Dr. Strange
    Fantastic Beasts
    Rogue One
    Dead Pool
    Assassins Creed
    The Accountant

I would lump a movie like Inception in with "Mindless views" because it really wasn't deep, it was just overly convoluted in an effort to appear deep.

Hell yeah. it was shot for 3d.

I hate 3d with a passion and would probably never watch this in 3d again, but it does add to the experience for this movie. imax 3d if you can.

Agreed with the poster about Zootopia. Haven't seen Kubo and the Two Strings, but I heard that was a really good movie, too.

4 of these movies haven't even come out yet.

And I think "mindless" is too negative a connotation, but to each his own.

Interstellar. Easily one of the most detailed nuanced movies I've seen.
Free State of Jones is a 2x one for me. I don't know that I'd watch it over and over, but twice yes.
