This is a matter of expectations.

You have lowered expectations. (Where's the old SNL skit?) If OK is good enough then that's OK. I'm glad you're happy. The Texans are lucky that they found their QB and are on the upswing. But lets not make it out that McNair has bullt some great franchise that makes him worthy of a statue. His teams haven't won crap.

Landry/Lombardi etc... have statues for a reason.

    I vote for Casserly/Joppru/Buchanon statues.

    How about Ragon/Drew Henson Statues.

He's getting a statue largely because he brought the NFL back to Houston. That's what he'll be remembered for...and rightly so.

Nope, they weren't immediately the Patriots from day 1, thus they are mediocre and everything is bad. You've gotta realize that's the level that many "Texans fans" operate on and they just can't help themselves.

He's been looking frail so they probably know something we don't. Statues are stupid but he deserves praise for bringing football back to the city.

I hope the artist is a Texans fan.

If he is, he will make it the safest, most mundane statue he can produce.

Fans will then show up en masse at NRG to hang small Rick Smith totems around the McNair statue's nuts.

Thus, a realistic, yet artistic rendition of our front office.

Trying to decide who had the worst take in this thread. Down to:

    1. The guy who thinks McNair is deserving of a statue; or

    2. The guy who thinks fans would rather not have a football team than "suffer" watching the Texans over their existence.

    I think I'm going with #2.

Lombardi and Landry from different times with different expectations. In 15 every team cant have won a Super Bowl

The Texans have a peer in franchise age. The Browns are awesome

The Texans are 54-48 since 2011.

    That is pretty mediocre.

There's no video evidence that McNair signed Ed Reed, but he sure sounded like a pro football expert looking back on it.

There's no video evidence that McNair removed Derek Carr from our draft board, but he did.

There's no video evidence that the McNairs voted to gift Brock Osweiler to us, but they did.

Why would Bob and Cal have "votes" on which football players we bring in? When did Bob and Cal become pro football experts? His one failing has been a biggie -- amateur making pro football decisions. I'd rather he sit back and nod and drink wine like Kraft does.

But I like Mr. McNair. He's a nice guy. He brought football back to Houston. They've given a lot to local charities.

And you'll never see him flipping double-birds up to the stands in an opponents stadium...

I have zero issue with them putting up a statue for him. And as a charter PSL holders, we in some way indirectly helped finance that happening.
