Underperforming this year? Hispanic leadership might be something the stats cant calculate but an important issue to address this offseason.

Altuve & Correa hurt and not playing at 100% the biggest factor imo.

I'd like for Luhnow to try to get Beltrán as a hitting coach. And trade for veteran power bats.

I literally came here to post this. We basically played this almost without last year's MVP aside from a couple of decent at-bats, and Correa was still very much hobbled but had some hits.

They outcoached the Dodgers last yr with Hispanic leadership. This is something mlb insiders always talk about, who gets through to the majority of players in the mlb who are Hispanic. Cultural, language, chemistry... it all adds up. Marwin, Correa, altuve, Maldonado etc. really struggled to get rolling this yr.

I would like to see Beltran back. This cintron guy is going to be somebody's manager? open spot. Beltran wants to be in NYC though for some stupid reason. Something about family .

Alex Cora as Astros Manager might not have worked because of the way Jeff Luhnow Manages A.J. Hinch, A.J. is so robotic with his stat sheet. Always staring at stats. Alex really went to full strategy and knows all of weaknesses of the Astros, Middle Order due up Put a Hard Thrower in the 7th instead of the 8th. Alex Really executed, while A.J looks dumbfounded with his precious shifts which don't work in the playoffs. Because every hitter can hit the other way especially Postseason Teams not Weaker Teams.

Astros should try to form an all white team again. Like they did in 2005 where they had the least non white players of any team in recent memory.

never mind. Would rather not get into an argument with this level of stupidity as I cannot possibly match.

Correa has too many quotes about Beltran. Yuli and marwin really appreciated him as well. Its clear he helped them when he was here... beyond stealing signs

Cora knew everything about these guys and it showed.

I think injuries and Cora having some inside knowledge of how AJ manages and what the players strengths and weaknesses were. How to pitch them and play defense is what helped Boston. Add the umpires and the calls.

    “Hispanic leadership”

You know... not all Spanish speaking cultures are the same or even overly similar.

The Astros offensive struggles were not the result of Gurriel having an injury that resulted in losing a bone in his wrist that typically takes a year to recover from, Altuve’s torn knee and Correa’s bad back and a lack of production from the corner outfield spots?

It was that Hispanic leadership. Since the Cubs white players struggled, perhaps they need more Anglo leadership.

    Uhhh...

Altuve and Correa injured most if not all of the season.

Marwin, Gattis, and Reddick having down offensive seasons.

McCann and Gurriel hurt and aging.

Great year by Bregman and good year by Springer. Better than expected seasons by Stassi, Kemp, and White. But that’s not near enough to make up for 7 of your 9 everyday hitters not meeting expectations set by how they did in 2017.

Unless you think Marwins down year was a result of losing Beltran and Cora, Hispanic leadership had nothing to do with how the offense struggled in 2018.
