    I think it will be good if they finally over turn abortion laws and make it illegal, it will be the greatest gift to the democrats. We haven't swung to the right far enough to make the democrat base really angry.

    Unlikely that Dems can flip the Senate to begin with, but even if they could, the Senate will try to rush through a confirmation before the mid terms now.

    If the GOP were smart they'd nominate a moderate conservative and reach out to the Democratic party. I think it would help them a lot more than finding a wing nut to help them ram down their social policy. If they do that people will openly revolt and it would energize the democratic base for a good while.

    People got lazy and content, assumed control, the Dem turnout was unusually low. If they strike down Affirmative Action, make Abortion illegal, or do anything in that vein you don't think that would motivate people to vote?

    As predominantly a centrist, I hope the next nominee is not a right wing nut. It is good to have balance in the supreme court.
