    Kelly Dwyer‏Verified account @KDonhoops
Today I was told I'll no longer be writing for the greatest website in the world, @YahooBDL. It was my dream job, I wanted it for life.

Kelly has always been a positive contributor here. maybe tweet him to let know we appreciated him.

Fallout from the merger or effect of The Vertical moving to ESPN?

End result: another good hoops writer getting rejected at the rim...

    From Ziller's SB newsletter:

And finally: shout out to Kelly Dwyer, who revealed he has been let go by Yahoo! after running Ball Don't Lie seemingly forever. Dwyer was at SI.com when basketball blogs were first budding in the mid-00s, and no one at a major publication did more to expand visibility of new writers and make connections between traditional and new media. He was (and is) also a fricking incredible writer and observer of the game. He linked me when no one knew who I was, and said some incredibly nice things about my writing over the years. But more than that, he's just set an awesome example on how to watch basketball, write about it, and share the love. He'll be back somewhere, and it shouldn't take something like this to lead to a public outpouring of love, but he deserves it.

I liked Kelly. He wrote well. I remember sharing one of his articles here and a few CF brothers were salty cos they thought they know abt the NBA better than he does.

Yahoo! (or Verizon or Oath or Altaba or whatever they're calling it) Sports/Basketball will soon be dead. It had a good run.

Sad to see downsizing happening everywhere but thats what happens due to technology.

Kelly Dwyer is a really good writer, but these days you don't need writers giving good analysis anymore, in fact its better to have a loud mouth who will put out controversial opinions and get lots of noise. Sports journalism is dying and being replaced by sensationalism, because unless its something extremely stimulating people won't bother viewing content anymore when they have so many other options available.

I was thinking about that today, like technology is a good thing but too much can be a bad thing. for example, I used to watch the game with my friends but now I prefer to sit at home and watch it on DVR in less than 60 minutes. even if you do get together with your family or friends and you're sitting around, everyone has their phone in their hand.

Kelly wrote an article about Clutchfans called the 'Granddaddy of Fan BBS's' or something like that -- he is a long time member here and deserves much respect.

Less about technology and more about cutting costs because of a mega-merger. Kelly will land on his feet if he has a large following and he can generate ad revenue for someone.

Only thing good about the Yahoo Sports site is Woj and the Vertical. Wasn't he leaving to go to ESPN or did Yahoo come to it's senses and decide to keep him and his team.
