Kpop is a drug! Jpop actually. It's in Japanese but they are Korean boy band. From their Japanese album.
Big time! BTS themselves looks like they gonna take over the pop genre if they getting these kinds of numbers and reactions.
So this weekend on Saturday I went to Korean Festival at Discovery Green. I've been to it in the past but its got to have been about 4 years since. Well, when I went this time it was completely different than it had been 4 years ago. This time there were hundreds (maybe a thousand) of teenage girls (and some boys) that were synchronized dancing and singing along to all the Kpop songs. But the thing was, the majority of them WEREN'T ASIAN! They were of all races. I couldn't believe it, Kpop had crossed all race barriers and has become more mainstream then I had ever imagined. It wasn't just the dancing, it was the singing. They new all the words, in KOREAN!! I was amazed
I read somewhere on Reddit that KPop fans don't think PSY was the guy. They thought he was being used as the butt of jokes instead of really being embraced. He got views because he was considered ridiculous and a parody. BTS is the thing that pushed KPop into the stratosphere. Does anyone remember Wonder Girls? They were supposed to usher in the KPop genre. I remember they were supposed to have a reality show they debuted in the US on the Wendy Williams show. They didn't do too well over here.
America has pretty much abandoned real RnB music so now everyone is going to Korea. RnB is my genre, hurts my heart that this wouldn't be a hit in America. At least it's in English so I can understand it without subs.
It's gonna be damn near impossible for other Korean groups to top BTS. Not only do they come out with albums every freaking second, they also do solo projects where each member drops their own albums. And those even top the charts. I really want to see a girl group blow up like BTS, just gotta put in that work.
(G)-Idle so hot right now. About to get cucked by Twice though. Twice will never not have a number one single. Unprecedented success.
