That's a good sign that he's taking it seriously and realizes the path he was on was going in the wrong direction. Good for him.

Not surprised to hear this after it came out he was extending his stay. He has serious problems and (apparently) is serious about solving them.

If this story is true, would not be shocked if he quits the NFL for good.

Plenty of red flags... but didn't expect this. Certainly furthers the premise of why teams usually stay away from players with questionable "character" issues, even though there have been several examples of players who overcome their demons.

I think this was done for page hits, if not just to coax a response from Manziel and the Browns.

There is a difference between using and abusing. If you don't nip it in the bud, it can develop into a serious problem later on down the road. Case in point:

Super awesome? I mean.... where'd he go overall? 27th? Super awesome QB's usually go top 10 and even then most are busts.

Mortensen began the Browns segment by talking about the club's commitment to Manziel:

"I think about 90 percent that they have moved on [from Manziel] in their own minds except that they really don't know who they're going to get when Johnny leaves rehab, which has been an extended stay — a two-month stay. He should be getting out sometime in the first week of April if they're satisfied that he's ready to go out and get into society and that whatever deep-rooted problems that he had has been addressed. OK, now he's part of your depth chart. You have Josh McCown."

The ESPN NFL Insider then delved into the Browns' fascination with Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford.

"Yes, the Browns were the team, with the second first round pick, 19th pick, that talked to the Rams about that pick in trying to acquire Sam Bradford. But there was no quarterback they could send to St. Louis in return. Nick Foles was the obvious one and Bradford is somebody that the Eagles and [head coach] Chip Kelly have Mark Sanchez as a placeholder until Sam Bradford is healthy, and so I don't think Bradford is going to be available. They would like him to sign an extension, something he wouldn't have done had he gone to Cleveland. So I don't see why Cleveland could sit there and give up a first-round draft pick for somebody who's not inclined to sign an extension. All of these things are in discussion. If we were sitting around the living room, we'd be kicking all this stuff around."

Mortensen ended his view on the Browns' quarterback situation with this interesting nugget of information:

"The bottom line is that Johnny Manziel's future with the Browns has been in question. When they were putting together half of a new offensive staff, Manziel's name barely even came up in conversation."

I think the report said threw it(spiked it) at the fan.
That's not behavior one expects from a QB of any team. Think Johnny Football is a wee bit thin skinned? I know he takes and will always take a ton of abuse/insults from fans that just want to hate but man, just keep it moving and let your friends/posse deal with it.

Can you imagine how much crap Romo hears? The amount of insults and crap he's heard from fans over the years ever since the Seahawks playoff mishap his first season starting? I'm sure he doesn't sign every single autograph requested and I bet some fans who don't get a Romo autograph choose to go off on him yet Romo keeps it moving. Not Johnny Football though.

Maybe a better comparison might be a similarly young QB like Manziel, Geno Smith. I wonder how much crap and abuse Geno gets from fans in New York on a daily basis(if/when he chooses to go out on the town or to sporting events like JFootball did).

I like Chuck's take on the situation.

Fans think they can harass you then they deserve to get hit.
