Very sad to see him like that. He is obviously a great martial artists and actor but he's also a very good humanitarian. Really wish him the best..

That picture is shockingly crazy but it’s just a picture. If he’s more like the New Years 2018 video with the bald head, than well he doesn’t seem all that different.

harsh lighting in a single picture. people are used to actors getting multiple procedures and looking like tom cruise even tho he is 55 years old. that isn't how normal people age. also jet li was a serious athlete who used his body up so it breaking down is no surprise however unfortunate.

Agreed. It sounds like he’s managing the best he can and hopefully it really isn’t that bad .... you can tell he’s in good spirits regardless and exudes positive energy. Even if it is worse than it really is... he won’t admit or believe it.

Li, perhaps cognizant of the larger-than-life image he has cultivated through his many movie roles, said that in fighting the illness he was “just a regular guy.”

“I’m not Wong Fei-hung, I’m not Huo Yuanjia. I’m not a hero,” he said, naming characters he had played. “I’m just like you.”

Thanks for sharing. My favorite quote from the article. Really shows his humility as well as how humble he is. In the end we’re all human indeed but he’s definitely not “just a regular guy”.

Time to dust off the Romeo must die dvd. One of my fav movies.

I've always known who Jet Li was and everything, but I just realized, after looking at his imdb, that I have never, ever, seen a single movie with Jet Li even appearing in it.

What do yall recommend as a 6-pack to start? The foreign movies would be the best, I think.

Fearless is his best movie and the one that really expresses his own thoughts about martial arts.
Hero is a very beautiful movie and one of the best movies of director Zhang Yi Mou.
The Once Upon a Time in China series is very entertaining and what started to get Jet Li international attention.
Hitman is a very entertaining movie with not only great martial arts but also some of the finest comedic work by Eric Tsang (Hong Kong's Joe Pesci).

I think the only ones I've seen are Romeo Must Die, The One, Hero, and Fearless. I honestly don't remember much about anything except for The One because the premise was cool (at the time).

Like @VanityHalfBlack said, Fist of Legend is his best film. It is a remake of Bruce Lee's Fist of Fury. The fight choreography is amazing. I believe the character he plays (Chen Zen) is the student of the character he plays in Fearless (Huo Yaujia). Both were real martial artists, but of course there are embellishments to drive the story.

I haven't really enjoyed his American films as much. They are more standard action flicks and not nearly a stylized as his Wushu films. Hope this helps, Buck.

His first American lead role was Romeo must die. It’s one of my favorites. I’m a little partial to the early 2000’s kinda cheesy movies though cause of Nostalgia. Kinda like the OG fast and furious.

I actually liked his American Films more than Jackie's to be honest.

Romeo Must Die- I mean aaliyah come on!!!
    Unleashed
Lethal Weapon 4- That movie introduced me to Jet Li in America, lolol
The one- I like the ending with the papa roach song at the end!
Kiss of The Dragon- Bridget Fonda is hot in this!!

I know I'm missing some other good ones in here, can't remember.

They are good, fun movies. Not saying don't watch them. I just really love his Chinese stuff. And Jackie's American films are corny and formulaic. They always have him buddy up with some smart mouth American, and hilarity ensues due to their Odd Couple rip-off cultural differences.

For pure martial arts action choreography, Fist of Legend is Jet Li's best film, and doesn't have the wire-fu of some of his older films. Tone wise, it's a much more serious film, dealing with some of the chinese/japanese racial tensions.

Hero is a great film overall, but is more of an ensemble movie. Jet Li has a good fight with Donnie Yen at the beginning of the movie, and I loved the overall feel, cinematography and colors of the movie. It does the rashomon thing of going through the movie using different characters' viewpoints.

Fearless was a decent movie overall, but the character he played was kind of a prick, so I found him a little hard to root for.

Pretty good list. The Once Upon a Time in China series was amazing. It might have been the first Jet Li I saw. So I'm biased towards it.

Fist of Legend is also amazing.
