John Lucas was on the radio today talking about when he first met Kobe at 4 years old chucking up shots at the summit. His family and Kobe were really close his whole life. It was a great interview.
I thought it was because his parents were upset that he didn't get a pre nup with Vanessa when they first got married.

He even beat the guy they eventually drafted that year (which probably was Jerry Stackhouse). Sounds like he said Stackhouse asked him what position Kobe played and Lucas responded with "I hate to tell you, but he's a junior in high school". lol.
I think that was the first rift...way back when Kobe and Vanessa decided to get married. The recent rift(a few years back) was the selling of the memorabilia issue.
