So untimely, but I am confident we can find a suitable replacement and still be a top defensive team.

Not a big deal. Harden has played here long enough to know his principles and CP3 is CP3. They will lead the team.

Let's make cp3 the defensive coach. I'm serious.

I see what you did there, linking Harden with the concept of defensive principles. Good one!

Yup.... Ron Adams and Mike Brown both have a great deal of experience and knowledge.

There are some very good defensive coaches out there, but they are under contract.... Dan Burke, Andy Greer, Darren Erman, Dave Vanterpool and Will Hardy.

The Rockets could possibly offer one of them the Associate Head Coach title and pry them lose, but it isn't likely. Burke isn't likely to ever leave Indy, Greer is tight with Thibs (unless he is fired), Hardy is still young and lodged up Pop's ass. Erman is possible if you can get over his past mistake.

Luke Walton led the Warriors to 73 wins then left to coach the Lakers. We’ll live.

The Jump and various hosts think losing Ariza and Luc is more important than losing BZD. once again, they are wrong.

Could be seen as the loss of the Trinity of D.

Welp. At least we'll get to see Rockets' games with scores that total 300points now.

He would've probably put in one more season if he thought the Rockets could win a championship. :/

Hope the Rockets prove him wrong.

Yeah, me too neither. What a blow. I didn't even consider that something like this might happen. Thank goodness he was with us long enough to instill incredibly great new defensive habits in Harden in particular and gave our team a reliable roadmap to follow on defense. I only hope we can find someone that's good at promoting those very good habits for current and future roster.

Feels like this came out of nowhere. I still believe though. Even when I can't believe in anything else I believe in our Houston Rockets. This is some major adversity but our Rockets are good at overcoming major adversity, in large part because of our great coaching staff.

I'm encouraged that we still have all the folks that made the Bzdelik decision in the first place. I expect they all recognize the importance of their next defensive coach and will find a great replacement.

Hopefully, we see a similar effect to when Adelman replaces Van Gundy. The defense did not collapse the next season, but started to show signs the following season.

    06-07 Drtg - 101.31 Van Gundy
    07-08 Drtg - 102.17 Adelman
    08-09 Drtg - 104.67

The use of Drtg is only intended to show the gradual decline of the defense vs falling off a cliff. Hopefully the defensive methodology is retained and gives us enough time to find a suitable replacement.

Funny thing is: Both of you sound so sure, yet at this point nobody actually knows.

Ppl already blaming Melo & he hasn't even stepped on the court for us. U are doing the same thing the media does, point blame to certain guys while scapegoating others.
