Don't know and don't care about whatever wings in the democratic party. But, whether she is good or bad at her job, she's gone a long time not succeeding. An executive in a corporation can't go this long without tangible success and keep her job.

I was going to make a thread on how it of touch dem leadership is with Pelosi and Schumer. Both are from big coastal demos and both have an image problem.

What Pelosi is great at is whipping together votes that's tougher than how Ryan is doing now with the gop.

As long as they're in place, the fear and fear actualized textbook is the only play they can make because they essentially represent the status quo that 30%Trumpers reject and others don't get out to vote.

There's no aspirations towards a different better future.

I'd be happy for new leadership in the Democratic party.

Funny thing ... all these Republicans getting their panties all in a wad over Pelosi ... just might mean that she is a very effective leader of the Democratic Caucus.

For the most part people just laugh at her. She's an easy punch line and is always good to rally Republican support. Honestly that's what she's been best at over the last several election cycles. She's was one of the main keys to the Republicans taking back the house, senate, and white house.

She's a terrible public face for a party. She may be a good leader behind the scenes, but she is awful on camera and is a great punch line for her opponents.

It is not her; it is the position she holds.

I suspect most voters end up voting for the candidates and their merits versus voting for or against the majority or minority leader.

Republicans attack the opposition leader. It's what they do.

Chuck Shumer gets way more camera time than she does. Give the Republicans time and they will turn Schumer into the very devil. There is absolutely no doubt that this will happen.

For sure, the "Fire Nancy Pelosi" campaign they ran is what helped take back the house...and they've been using it successfully ever since. A left wing nutjob from California in a leadership position is EXACTLY the kind of thing that is great for fundraising and for mobilizing the Republican base to get out to vote. You might hear Chuck mentioned, but he just doesn't bring in the big bucks like Nancy.

Wait till the midterms, Trump's behavior is their best campaign ad right now, no need to give the appearance of discord or disappointment.

Pelosi is a good fundraiser and good at holding her caucus together to take politically suicidal (but perhaps in her mind, good for the country) votes

not sure that skillset works in a minority leader role. She is still the face of those votes.

Great thread. Started by a conservative about a liberal leader. On topic, I totally believe she should step aside. Hell, I live in her district and have been voting against her for several cycles. You just get too much baggage and she's too much from a bubble, especially, as y'all have also already said, in the video clip age. It's just brutal and her voice is better fundraising fodder for the right than the left at this point.

Now, if you'll forgive me: off topic, notice that we're having an actual discussion in this case, and nobody has said "Aw man, your POTUS sucks! Police your own and don't worry about our team!" That has happened several times in a not dissimilar thread, where irrelevant politicians were brought up for whatever reason. Just saying it's interesting to note.

Anyway, this thread has motivated me to call Pelosi's office, say I am in her district, and I don't want her as minority speaker anymore. Why not? Well, in the end, I kind of agree with CometsWin that it won't matter much. Whoever steps up next will be immediately demonized and crucified on certain news networks as an evil uber-liberal socialist, etc, etc.

Look... if Elvis freaking Presley came back from the dead, and was the leader of the Democratic Party, Republicans would attack him as a crooked liberal who lied about being dead so you can't trust him.

You should NOT make changes based on who Republicans are shaming at the moment. Because it doesn't matter either way. If they are doing a good job, they are doing a good job and they should shamelessly defend their own. Hell... Republicans defend Donald Trump.

That being said.... in this case, yes the Dems need new bold blood, and Nancy Pelosi needs to go. She's got great experience but she just hasn't won a damn thing for the party while the Republicans keep cleaning their clock on election after election. I'd like to see someone like a Jim Himes or maybe Ted Lieu in the role. The House doesn't quite have the depth of personality that the Senate does but there are a few rising stars that need a chance to bring some energy and ingenuity to the party.

Pelosi should move on. SHe should have moved on in 2010.

Dems are made up the left and the center. Republicans are the right and the hard right. The country tilts democrat in population but the system over-represents non-urban areas. Pelosi has failed to put together a vision that reaches and brings both the left and center into the fold. It's not easy but Obama did it so she should be able to as well.

Trump hadn't slandered a former president or two FBI directors yet to keep from being investigated, so no.
