Group of Democrats meet behind closed doors to consider ousting Pelosi

I'm interested to hear the opinions of my friends on the left side of the aisle. What do you all think?

    She should...

It's not even that I dislike her so much as she gives the impression that nothing has changed...

Hell no, she's doing an amazing job! She should remain minority leader for another 20 years.

While I think Pelosi was an effective leader I also think the time is right for changes, new people and fresh ideas. The leadership position is one that does require experience and savvy though, so a replacement will be a challenge.

Yes, please. It's far past time for new Democratic leadership in the House. Chuck was an improvement in the Senate, and the House deserves a Leader at least as good. Hopefully better. Not sure who would fill the bill, but positive change is needed.

Absolutely. Can she drag that sad, turkey-necked, geriatric turtle-looking guy McConnell with her?

Not much point. Her ultra leftist view on politics is what the majority of democrats want. Change just for a non surgically reconstructed face on TV is a bad move. Whatever you guys think of her the media loves her and she is the female that has held the highest position ever in government.

I dont think that is very accurate. Mainstream Democrats are pretty reasonable. Unfortunately for them its the M2M, the iron grip of the DNC and the hard leftist who are ruining their party. As one can see in this thread, they are all rejecting Pelosi just as the Right rejects the likes of Sessions and McConnell. The career politicians are killing both parties by putting their self interests ahead of everything else and fueling the flames of discourse with the average citizen.

Sorry, centrist liberals, the politics of Bernie Sanders and Jeremy Corbyn are the progressive path forward
They would say they offer the party a future, not ruin. Look how far Clinton had to shift her positions. They obviously make up a far larger part of the democratic party than the Freedom Caucus does of the Republicans.

Well you called Pelosi ultra-left, she doesn't represent the progressives in the party at all that went for Bernie. Bernie and progressive are more 'left' of her, who you just called 'ultra-left' so the comment confused me a little.

That story is right, a big problem for many Democrats is that they are far too center and not enough to the left to garner any excitement for their base.

Possibly next time don't bold two claims from a poster and then sarcastically reply no. I view the party as leftists (Obama) Ultra left (pelosi) and Intersectional/identity politics (Harris)

Bernie isn't in the Dem party. Thought you were claiming the ultra left isn't the majority, thus the article.

It doesn't matter. They can drop her just for the sake of change but let's be clear that whoever is the minority whip will be labeled a crazy leftist. That's the Republican shell game. Just like Obama was the crazy, fringe liberal trying to destroy America that was actually a moderate corporatist Democrat. Democrats need to stop giving two ****s what Breitbart posting wingnuts think of them.

It wasn't sarcastic at all, it was just a simple no as I thought you were saying that Pelosi is what the hard left wants. Progressives are certainly farther left than her and would like nothing more than to have her replaced.

Bernie may not technically be part of the party but come on now.

But yes, the ultra-left as you call it are the majority I feel. I don't think they are 'ultra' left though? They just want a return to American socialism which the country has seen and benefitted from before and they see the country slowly abandoning it and the fear of the safety net being cut entirely out from under their generation is pretty real.

100% agreed. No matter who it is they will be labeled as a crazy fringe leftist socialist whatever.

I think she needs to go irrelevant of what people on the right think of her. I just think the Democrats should be tapping into the energy behind the progressives that are begging to get behind someone, anyone, that will represent them. Pelosi unfortunately just represents more of the same. She's competent though, and in other times she'd be fine.

Progressives would want a fighter like Elizabeth Warren but then so-called President a-hole will just start calling her Pocahontas and the wingnuts will label her a crazy leftist. I can get behind Warren though, she's a tough lady who doesn't take crap. Kamala Harris is also making a play though I don't know much about her but she's got the looks to be successful for sure. Democrats just need to return to who they are. Fighting for the middle class, fighting for poor whites and minorities, and let's just leave the fringe politics on the back burner for a while. Demcrats need to showcase economic and foreign policy issues in such a way that educates beyond Republican sloganeering and fake rhetoric.
