LOL everyone is "immoral" if they don't see things your way right? You seriously need to seek help for your condition, there's no way it's healthy.
Bob Bauer on the LawfareBlog https://www.lawfareblog.com/responses-demagogue-unsung-heroes-and-impeachment-process relevant excerpt: "Almost two years into the Trump presidency, a pattern of behavior has emerged that no reasonable observer would conclude might change. There is no reason to believe after all this time that the president is acting only on fleeting impulse when he complains bitterly about his lack of control over the Department of Justice; pushes his senior staff to shut down an investigation affecting him and his family; derides his attorney general for complying with recusal rules and goads him publicly to initiate prosecutions of political adversaries; insists on personal loyalty from senior law enforcement; and, proclaiming the absolute character of his pardon power, exercises that authority for political purposes, announcing his intention to do so at political rallies. This is a course of conduct to which Trump is committed. It is a—if not the— defining feature of this presidency. "It is a demagogic presidency, exhibiting all of these behaviors associated with the classic demagogue that the founders were so concerned about: the relentless pursuit of self-interest whose methods include a wanton disregard for the truth and contempt for legal institutions, processes and constraints. Does this leadership style present a case for impeachment? "The most rigorously argued, historically based standards strongly indicate that it does. For example, Bobbitt defines an impeachable offense as 'a crime against the perpetuation of the order and ethos of the State.' Cass Sunstein would frame it in similar terms: an 'egregious abuse of official authority.' The case for impeachment may well expand with further developments in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s ongoing investigation in the Russia matters. But as Bobbitt notes, the issue before a Congress considering impeachment is whether a president has committed a 'wanton constitutional dereliction captured by the high Crimes and Misdemeanors, not whether [his actions] conform to the prohibitions contained in a criminal statute.' (Alan Dershowitz would disagree, claiming that a punishable criminal offense must first be established—but he stands mostly alone, outside the mainstream of constitutional scholarship and thought.) If Mitch McConnell won't hold a hearing for Obama's USSC nominee, what makes you think that he will hold a trial on Trump's impeachment?
In that vein of thinking, the Mueller investigation might be in the way of an impeachment on ethos grounds. So long as Mueller investigates, Congress has an excuse to delay taking action. That said, my confidence is not very high that they'd do anything at all if Mueller wasn't around. Maybe a prosecutable crime isn't required, but it probably doesn't hurt.
The author makes some good points but we need legal scholars to come forward (if they feel this way) that are not so obviously connected to the previous administration, IMHO.
It's time. We didn't really need any more evidence that this guy was mentally unfit, we all know he's obstructed justice about a hundred times already.
Mr. trump is mentally ill. The Atlantic coast is bracing for a powerful hurricane, and trump is tweeting lies, nonsense, and damn near unintelligible garbage for his "base" to lap up regarding Puerto Rico and the huge hurricane that devastated the island. He keep babbling lies about the horror Puerto Rico went through and the death toll from the storm. A death toll anyone who has read and watched the news from multiple sources and about the event shouldn't be surprised by at all. He should be impeached for mental instability, mental incompetence, and being a danger to the republic. In my humble opinion. Instead of making speeches about what is happening now as I type this, he continues to fixate on an event in the near past that made him look foolish due to his bizarre reaction to it. Mr. trump cannot abide anything that he thinks makes him look the fool. That's who's in the Oval Office. God, if you exist, help us all.
Doug Mataconis argues that the 25th Amendment will be no help in removing Trump from office and that those wishing for that outcome will have to pursue impeachment: "If he’s going to be removed from office, then it’s Congress’s responsibility to do so using its impeachment power. Failing that, then it is the job of the American people to proceed accordingly at the polls on Election Day." https://www.outsidethebeltway.com/on-the-twenty-fifth-amendment/https://www.outsidethebeltway.com/on-the-twenty-fifth-amendment/ more at the link
If a Dem was President, Ken Starr would be saying "impeachment is inevitable". Same could be said for Kavanaugh.
With respect, I disagree. If Trump hadn't gone down to Puerto Rico, who would've tossed those "here, catch!" rolls of paper towels to the Mexic---er, Puerto Ricans in the back of the room? For all we know, he was tossing out Bounty, the quicker-picker-upper. "Hey, these will sop up all the rainwater in what's left of my house."
More than a quarter of the country wants the GOP to start impeachment investigations against Biden https://theweek.com/house-of-repres...-quarter-of-the-country-want-the-gop-to-start excerpt: Their razor-thin majority assured, House Republicans are now faced with the reality of actual governance and the demands of their increasingly raucous base for whom the once-fringe prospect of impeaching President Biden has now become a majority opinion, according to a new Morning Consult/Politico poll. While 28 percent of the country overall said a GOP House investigation into whether Biden should be impeached was a "top priority," that number nearly doubled to 55 percent among GOP respondents. Just 6 percent of Democrats agreed. Notably, GOP support for investigating Hunter Biden's finances — a major source of conservative ire and conspiratorial theorizing — is slightly lower than their interest in an impeachment investigation, with 52 percent of GOP respondents calling it a priority for the incoming Congress. Meanwhile, 7 percent of Democrats agreed. more at the link
Only a quarter, so not even half of the MAGA cultists. This, along with Hunter's laptop, definitely sound like winning issues that the Republicans should focus on.
I'm pretty sure McCarthy will have to start impeachment hearings to appease the Jim Jordan, Gaetz MTG portion of his caucus. Given how narrow the majority is and that many of those are in vulnerable swing districts from states that went for Biden he might not be able to get a majority vote to impeach.
