Generally, that time period has been dominated by Run the Jewels and Kendrick Lamar...then everyone else is a couple tiers below. Although MBDTF is the best rap album from 2010+.

This is all fine and dandy. But in my eyes the only relevant rappers mentioned so far are Kendrick Lamar and 2 Chainz. Throw in Slim if you want to consider him on a local level. Killer Mike is relevant for other reasons outside of rap.

Their music is directly relatable to the lives of their organic audience. It feels familiar the first time you hear it, yet it's still unique and brand new. And this isn't an assessment based solely on talent, even though Kendrick has that is spades, it has more to with understanding and reflection of the culture.

Most of the rappers mentioned here have mostly cult followings for that reason. And that's not a bad thing. Find your niche and become great at it.

I know it's all mainstream rappers but just cause you're mainstream doesn't mean you can't be hot. Besides most of these songs haven't/won't get much air play.
