Not a travel, he releases the ball for his dribble a hair before lifting his back pivot foot.

And you can raise your pivot foot, anyhow. He just can't bring it back down before that first dribble. He wasn't close to raising it and bringing it back down.

Yeh no way it was a travel

Caught the ball and landed on his right foot first, faked, right toe stayed down, release dribble, pivot foot comes up, step, BANG BABY

wasn't a travel. pivot foot never came completely off the ground. thought it was in real time but watching it in slow-mo, it wasn't.

Na, he was catching it as he was walking forward, gathered, established front of right foot (toe side). He Dribbled as he leaned off that right toe to get in his shooting position. Then, add a sprinkle of Lebron-no-call Et voila!

You can raise your pivot foot. I don't see the need to watch in slow mo, except for the dribble was kinda blocked from our view a little.

Are you guys trying to see if he dribbled before raising the pivot. Doesn't matter if you raise it. You just can't raise it and put it back down, before that first dribble. He was nowhere close to putting it back down before the dribble.

I think he means right after this where they showed harden pat CP on the back of his head as the two are talking to each other. Or mostly CP doing the talking.

Yes I meant his back foot vs the other foot.

The NOLA crew was convinced it was a travel but even at regular speed it looked fine. As long as he begins his dribble prior to lifting his foot he is fine.

    It was a brilliant fake.

Are you saying had Harden lifted the pivot foot it would be a travel? Sorry to keep nitpicking this wording. You can lift a pivot foot. The right foot, back foot is the pivot.

There is nothing wrong with lifting it. You just can't lift it and put it back down.

Are the NOLA announcers the ones who seem to have convinced some posting here that you travel merely by lifting the pivot?

It looked like a travel at first. But rewatching it, I think he just raised his feet and remained on his toes. That's allowed, right?

Yes it would have been a travel once he completed his step forward. You must shoot or pass. Harden took a dribble and stepped so yes if he had lifted his foot it would have been a travel

No, he has to raise the pivot foot and put it back down. Harden's pivot is the right, back foot. He can move the left foot around all he wants, AND he can raise the back foot/pivot foot off the ground. That's all legal.

I blame it on the NOLA announcers that there is any confusion with this basic rule of traveling.
