Because they are prevalent and cheap in their home countries, and most players who get caught aren't established stars. You also have to wonder if there is poor labeling standards or something else. Didn't one guy claim it came from tainted beef (was that Duane Brown in the NFL)? I'm pretty suspect of any star player that gets caught. Would not put a supplement in my body that didn't come from the team.

I do not understand why Cano would use them now. I get using them to either make it to the majors or even trying to boost your stats for that big contract. Cano already had all that. These 80 games are costing him 12 million bucks. That guy is a gigantic moron.

You don’t think he just started using them recently do you?

C Alfredo Gonzalez, who the Astros signed in 2006, is with the White Sox in AAA, and has yet to make his big league debut. He could get his shot since Wellington Castillo just got popped for an 80 game ped suspension, although his .468 ops isn’t exactly inspiring much confidence. But crazy that he’s been toiling in the minors for 10 years.

Mike Fiers is being Mike Fiersy.

    4-3, 4.57 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 10 HRs given up in 8 starts.

I was wondering what he was doing this year. Seemingly, the same as previous years.

Reasonable April. Poor May. As Billl Worrell would say, “ He’s not inconsistent. He’s consistent, just not all the time.”

Musgrove made his Pirates debut tonight: went 7 innings, 5 hits, no BB, no R, struck out 7, threw 67 pitches and got the W.

For a change, I'm actually rooting for all the guys we traded for Cole.

I usually don't really want them to do well so I don't have to hear about it.

I typically want guys Astros trade to do well in games not against Astros, but not as well as what Astros receive. Makes things easier if Astros aren't viewed as complete swindlers.

Jerks traded are excluded. Bud Norris can rot in hell.

Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area writes that the Giants might consider releasing Hunter Pence (thumb).

How strong of a possibility it is isn't known, but Pence has six days left on his rehab assignment and it doesn't appear the Giants know what they're going to do with him yet. Manager Bruce Bochy has already said that Mac Williamson will be the team's regular left fielder, so Pence is looking at a reduced role. Pavlovic also writes that Pence has revamped his swing with the help of Doug Latta, who has worked with Williamson and Justin Turner. Pence is 20-for-54 at the plate on his rehab assignment since working with Latta, hitting three doubles and a grand slam.

Pence is one of my all time favorite Astros. I wish he could finish his career as an Astro.

Oh wow, that's pretty solid. Nothing wrong with that slide.

    See, everyone hates the Cubs.
