LOL After making a warm up start in an exhibition against the Marlins last week, Foltynewicz blamed the radar gun for his decrease in velocity and publicly engaged with a handful of fans and team writers to combat their critiques.
Ramon Laureano, Colin Moran, and Teoscar Hernandez all among the mlb top 50 in position player war. Moran has 3 HR in 5 games. Dallas Keuchel is the only former Astro in the current top 50 in pitching war.
I note our old friend Patrick Sandoval has looked solid in his lone appearance (18% SwStr%) this season. Too bad we won’t see him this series. I also see that Cole’s fastball hasn’t been nearly as effective this season even though he’s still spinning it at 2500 RPM.
Pitching hasn't been the issue. The top 3 in the lineup have been the issue. Bregs has always been a slow starter.
I mean I've also observed the slow start by the top three, but their team OPS is 3rd in the league and they're 1st in runs scored. Meanwhile, Justin Freaking Verlander is on the IL, along with half the damn bullpen.
That's stats geek heaven. The top of the line up has let this team down so far. Considering all of the young pitching, they've done a great job when you think about the situations they've been put in because of injury. Truth is unless Altuve/ Bregs/Springer get going this team is going nowhere. I'm taking into account that they are all slow starters normally.
To me , velocity seems down across the league . Pitchers havent built up arm strength yet and even those that have would rather be better in 2 months than today. But , i know nothing of Folty , he might be fried
