...except finishing (which I suppose would qualify more as a big thing). I know what Giraud is lauded for, being the back-to-goal, distributing type of forward. But he gets an amazing amount of chances in front of goal and he does not finish them. I'm amazed a ball didn't even just bounce off of him and go in during the entire tournament. It has to be more than the little things. Movement, creating space, distribution are things he does well. As a forward, you have to finish, too...and he just sucks at that.
But him not showing himself to be a good finisher in the tournament isn't a big deal to France and others because their team is so complete that they can get goals from other sources other than Giroud and be alright. It's the little things plus him being willing to track back and defend as a forward. Add that to Deschamps playing with a forward (Guivarch) similar to Giroud in that respect and it makes total sense though.
