Anyone else think the host being in Pot 1 is insane? I understand rewarding the host country, but automatic qualification already does that. Putting them in Pot 1 messes with the competitiveness of the whole tournament. At least Russia is kind of good, are they really gonna do this for Qatar?

Germany Mexico and Sweden for Korea. Sigh. Group H is so much easier. F Japan.

    Instant analysis:

Group A: Russia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Uruguay
    - As expected the easy ass group for Russia. Will be the opening match with the by far lowest quality in (modern) World Cup history. Hope that at least Uruguay shows up and wins the group.

Group B: Portugal, Spain, Morocco, Iran
    - Not the way I had hoped. Portugal and Spain pretty much play for who will win the group, no chance for Iran for Morocco.

Group C: France, Australia, Peru, Denmark
    - Easy group for the Baguettes, who will win this group smoothly. At least the fight for the 2nd spot should be interesting.

Group D: Argentina, Iceland, Croatia, Nigeria
    - Best group by far. Argentina always plays Nigeria, but Croatia and Iceland are no joke, so that's a tough test for Messi. Open group.

Group E: Brazil, Switzerland, Costa Rica, Serbia
    - Easy group for Brazil. Don't see them as favorites in the tournament, but they will win this group without difficulties. Guess Serbia will get the 2nd spot.

Group F: Germany, Mexico, Sweden, South Korea
    - Not too tough, not too easy. Like it for our guys. Would've preferred at least one very easy opponent, but we should be fine. Race for 2nd spot is completely open.

Group G: Belgium, Panama, Tunisia, England
    - Just like Group B, Belgium and England have exactly one serious match. Those two will go through without a doubt.

Group H: Poland, Senegal, Colombia, Japan
    - Poland successfully cheated themselves into Pot 1, but I'm not sure they will handle this. Colombia is my favorite here.

Liked my draw better, but it could've been a lot worse.

Group A -Russia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Uruguay
Supposedly an easy group and most will pick Russia and Uruguay but watch Egypt surprise yall and the rest of the media and doubting fans.

    Group B-Portugal,Spain, Morocco, Iran
Same here, most will say Portugal and Spain but watch as Morocco surprise y'all and the media. Morocco might just go through with Spain imo.

    Group C-France,Australia,Peru,Denmark
France. Not sold on the Aussies. I could see Denmark making it out with France. Peru is intriguing but I'm going France and Denmark.

    Group D-Argentina,Iceland,Croatia,Nigeria
Tough group, almost as tough as Group H. Gotta go Argentina and Nigeria but Iceland and Croatia can't be counted out. Both are good enough to go through. Tough one to call.

    Group E-Brazil,Switzerland,Costa Rica,Serbia
Brazil. Another tough battle for second place just like in Group D. Gotta go with Serbia. I don't have faith in Switzerland.

    Group F-Germany,Mexico ,Sweden,South Korea
Germany and Mexico. I might be tempted to go South Korea over Mexico in a nice upset. No love for Sweden by me.

    Group G-Belgium,Panama,Tunisia,England
England. How lucky. How lucky did they get? I don't think Panama or Tunisia will do anything in the group. Going with England and Belgium.

    Group H-Poland,Senegal,Colombia,Japan
Nice group for Japan. I would go Japan and Colombia. Senegal would be the one to spring a surprise on either of the two favourites.

No one mentioning group E? By far the most difficult one to me, very even talent.

Watch Mo Salah go on a rampage, I think Elneny is also good in the national team.

I dun think Morocco will be a surprise though but I think they wil fight and it won't be easy.

Sweden is overlooked though, I dun think they advance but they will fight till the end. They beat a not so good Italy for a reason.

Senegal and Poland should not be overlooked.

Argentina mostly disappoints so I won't comment on them.

I hope France, Belgium and Croatia have got what it takes to make the Semis. I used to watch them a lot.

    May a Dark horse arise!

Got potential. Shaqiri always plays well in group stage. So do Brian Ruiz and Costa Rica.

I hope Keylor Navas is deflecting everything.

And Serbia is a strong team worth the second Pot.

EXCELLENT. I missed it because I was in a meeting. I am expecting a GREAT game by my xico.

I will ENJOY seeing a GIANT fall, for this is the strongest team we've ever had. ;)

¡VAMOS, xico!!! ¡A Ganar la Copa Mundial en Rusia!

So? We've had the same resulting spot for the past Cups WITH or WITHOUT him.

    Haha. I knew you'd say that, @Buck Turgidson. :)

I saw this off a tweet and think it's the best way to show how the groups are:

Man, I feel Group D is a bit more talented overall.

Looking at the groups again, the competition seems like it might be better for the most part. With the exception of Group A and Group G, I think the rest will be tough to call. So many teams that some of the footy pundits are just underrating right now.

Koo Ja Cheol instead of Son Heung Min?
    Hasebe instead of Kagawa?
    No Sigurdsson?
