EDIT...just noticed the post with the seeding from yesterday. Why am I surprised Poland is in Pot 1?

Poland has made strides mostly offensively (Lewandowski, Milik, Teodorszyk).....but I am surprised that Peru is or was Number 10 of the world. Go Indios!

So I get to root for:

    Poland
    Argentina
    Costa Rica
    Whoever is playing Mexico
    Whoever is playing Russia

    That'll work.

For the handful of you guys that follow the MLS there will be some familiar faces. Adolfo Machado plays for the Dynamo, Armando Cooper for Toronto, Michael Amir Murillo and Fidel Escobar play for the Red Bulls, Miguel Camargo plays for NYC, Anibal Godoy plays for San Jose and of course Roman Torres plays for Seattle. Other guys with notable MLS experience who'll go to Russia include Alberto Quintero who played for San Jose last year, Blas Perez played for Dallas and then Vancouver for four years, and Jaime Penedo who played for the Galaxy for a couple of years.

Very, very few of these guys ever go to Europe, and when they do they seldom play in a high profile league never mind play for a high profile team. Penedo plays in Romania at the moment, Gaby Torres in Switzerland. Otherwise it's a few guys here and there in places like Slovakia and second division teams in Spain and Portugal. It's probably been twenty years since Panama had a consistent contributor on a team in La Liga.

Portugal had one of the easiest paths to a title ever in 2016 and barely won each game, feel like this was a total fluke.

Definitely not a real contender imo.

Those are all places I love and have spent time. I love the country of Mexico, I despise that soccer team.

Yes, I will bandwagon against El Tri for as long as I care about futbol.

Yep, I tend to root for countries I’ve enjoyed visiting, too, except for El Tri. I can’t bring myself to do it.

    I’ll be pulling for Iceland.

I tried the draw simulator several times, never produced a group with the USA in it. Can anybody tell me why?

So draw is in a few hours, just did the first simulation:

Ended up with a Group E of death, consisting of Argentina, Spain, Sweden and Saudi Arabia.Group F is also beasting with Germany, Uruguay, Tunisia, Serbia.
Group G Portugal, Colombia, Denmark, Panama.

Germany Spain would be bad arse in the Group Stage. England would do too as second. Croatia as a Euro old rival.
