After the allegations regarding Qatar and Russia winning bids, now a lot more has come out involving primarily Havelange and Sepp Blatter the President of FIFA.

Mind you, the new evidence was brought by the British Broadcasting Corporation. Probably unrelated, but the English were quite angered when they lost out on bids to host the World Cup.

Really messed up, but for anyone who's been watching soccer for a while, not shocking. There needs to be a mass clean out. The ability to allow countries to host a World Cup is worth far more than people imagine.

Agreed. Blatter needs to go, and the system must be changed. FIFA (and UEFA) are corrupt from the core.

    Dang. I miss Havelanche. :(

You know Platini is next... I wonder if he's as "corrupted" as the previous two...

I'd like to think the beautiful game isn't corrupted, but... it involves PEOPLE, who can be.

You miss the guy that was just named in a kickbacks case?

    Ok?

What I truly hope happens is that they quickly uncover proof that voting for both 2018 and 2022 was corrupted and they reopen the bidding. There's plenty of time for new host countries to plan. Qatar has no business hosting a World Cup.

I just never knew him like that, leroy, but he is more charismatic and a "people" person than Blatter. Josep seems to me like he is not as approachable as JH. I didn't mean "bring him back!"... I meant "I liked him better." But now I am finding out all these things... perhaps because I only saw him when I was young (he was gone a good 10 years ago, no?).

I agree with your last sentence. They're putting a huge program together to do well as a host nation during gameplay. Hopefully they won't bid out like Sudáfrica.
    Nice username. :p

When the head is corrupt, then the most corrupt football association leaders will be more succesful IMO. A single corrupt head of FIFA can't act alone.

They definitely need to make an example of Blatter.

I don't know about Platini frankly, but I imagine an ex-player of his pedigree has better sense than to engage in football corruption.

Like the IOC, the "one country one vote" principle and utter lack of oversight basically ensures that Fifa will be epically ridiculously corrupt so long as it exists.
