Also, with Disney/ESPN bleeding subscribers at alarming rates, the NBA TV deal will soon unravel and this will all be a financial disaster.

The owners learned nothing from the last lockout . Too many huge contracts to guys that don't deserve it .

How can you be CNBC and ESPN sport reporter and financial guru and not know there is a max 401(k) contribution??

Only .05% in the 401k? LeBron has the worst financial advisor on the planet. Lock that money up in a volatile market until you're 55 1/2, yo

Good to know the Rockets are the big-market big-dick writing welfare checks to likes of the poor Spurs who lost money according to this article.

I thought the CBA deal was already done. Those guys are only losing money when the BRI% is up for negotiation.

The owners get close to 50% of the revenue. Their stadiums are publicly subsidized. Each team is getting nearly 100 mill from TV money. The league as a whole is making good money.

The Rockets are one of 6 teams that together paid a sum total of approximately 56 million into revenue sharing (ie something around 9 million each)
while the -- the Warriors, Knicks, Lakers and Bulls -- accounted for $144 million, or 71.5 percent, of all revenue-sharing transfers.

Unfortunately for Tilman, the Rockets who were under the luxury tax last year, are projected to be slightly over this year AND IF they resign CP3 in 2018 will have significant luxury tax bills henceforth. This change will significantly effect the profitability of the team on an annual basis going forward.

How on EARTH did the Spurs lose money last year??

    (Oncoming run-on sentence)
They are the only professional sports team in San Antonio and have all of the fans from Austin to west Texas as their fan base in addition to a ton in Houston not to mention they have international appeal with their All-World team and they've won 5 freaking Championships and almost always stay under the cap! Huh??

Someone please explain this to me!

If anyone here really believes 9 of 30 NBA teams "lost money" after revenue sharing, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. This is an insult to the intelligence of anyone non-r****ded.

I wonder how much these 9 teams would sell for if one of them were put on the market. The sale price would indicate whether the business was actually money-losing.

Yeah that kind of made me question the article's accuracy.
