How "lethal" is Harden's step-back 3? He made 26 of 46 of them (56.5 percent) this season, per NBA.com tracking. "I would think that most coaches, if you're going against him, would think, 'OK, he hit a tough shot. Live with it,'" D'Antoni says. "But that's some hard living."

Honestly, I think the "cheat code" was the league making the Harden Rule.

Forcing him to score because he no longer has the certainty of a 2/3 shot foul causes him to focus on finishing better. That also means less turnovers off of non-calls.

Thank you NBA for unlocking James Gawden.

Are we just going to ignore our player development staff?

THE STEP-BACK 3 isn't something that Harden developed over the summer. It's a move that has been years in the making, a priority for Harden since he arrived in Houston, knowing he needed to expand his repertoire as he made the transition from Thunder sixth man to Rockets go-to guy. Rockets player development coach Irv Roland, who travels with Harden throughout the offseason, has incorporated step-backs into every single drill since Harden was traded to Houston in October 2012.
I guess only Pops and the Spurs get credit for developing Kawhliflower's three, amirite? And that's a guardable three. lulz

to think we have stupid media and idiots here last year who hated hardens' stepbacks saying its predictable, boring, ugly, and lazy
and stupid media and idiots here last year who hated hardens' threes saying he's not curry or klay

then boom harden combined those 2 "hated" moves into 1 awesome weapon

even now we have idiots here who wants to trade james' thress for midranges
and his stepbacks for running around in circles without the ball

Harden this season is the only player after 2000 besides Kobe to average more than 10 points per game via isolation. Kobe had it several times, but Harden is much more efficient. Harden's iso point per possession is 1.28 this year, while Kobe's is around 1.0

    This.

The idea that Harden cheats still persists even when he's dominating the league with those rules against his play.
