the same reason they rank him 8th when he is clearly a top 5 player, or the fact they dont mention that since 2012 nobody has had more 40 point, 30 point, and total points than james harden. Hell if stephen curry did all of that it would be everywhere

The fact the all of a sudden a player who is the 6th seed wins mvp, because his only other comp is Harden, if it was anyone else Westbrook would have lost

We are supposed to believe that because of a decent year by Curry in 2015, and an outlier year by Curry in 2016 that he is all of sudden better than Jordan. When in reality outside of 2016, Harden has been better than Curry 3 out of the past 4 years

The same reason they media wants Westbrook to sign his extension, so they can announce in jubliation the he signed the richest contract in nba history

Everything the media does and fans on social media do is about trolling the hell out of James Harden, you hear the cringe in almost every interview Harden is in, doesnt matter its from NBA TV or ESPN. They ask him the most embarrassing questions, questions that they would never ask any other top 5 player

Thanks Reeko, but I'm not done with you. Where did you get that 368 of them were 3 pointers?

it was on Harden's passes tracker page on NBA.com, but for some reason the page is now down on their site

here's part of a playoffs preview article from NBA.com on our 1st round series against OKC that references it tho

"Harden led the league with 723 total minutes of possession, 6.8 pull-up 3-point attempts per game, 11.2 assists per game, 27.1 points created via assists per game, and 368 assists on 3-pointers, 84 more than any player had in a single season prior to this year."

Wow, for sure something is messed up. Maybe just a clerical error on NBA.com's behalf or maybe the research on the 368 could've been wrong, but clearly someone is wrong here. I wonder where these writers were getting this data before. They are all clearly saying 368 and this stat is saying something else.

It seems popular to say and-1s are the reason, but I have a really really hard time believing that Harden had less than 16 passes that led to and ones all season long. (2198-2182)

    @RocketsTruth

CFnet had a Reddit moment of investigating this stat after the last game of the year, when it was reported Harden missed by one point. We had a teams of about 6 cfnets count the Play By Plays. We all wanted to prove the stat incorrect.

Unfortunately, we indeed confirmed this independently from Elias Sports Bureau. The discrepancy is indeed the AND-1s that Archibald's stats don't include. Your OP stat is comparing apples to oranges.

Sorry, but we couldn't prove this tweet wrong. And Morey couldn't either. He tried.

you mean is comparing apples to oranges

typo aside, isn't there a way to include assited and1's for archibald? coz they're really part of points produced right?

No, because there is no PBP for Elias Sports to look at. That's why many records do not go back to the beginning of time.

However, there is a way to include Harden's AND-1s into the record:

Change his name to Westbrook or Kashi, or trade him to the Lakers/Warriors. Then the NBA would change the record to include AND-1s, no matter whether Tiny's era did or not.

It was pretty bogus at the time, but yeah Harden messed the record by one point. It's kind of funny. It sort of describes Harden's career as a Rocket so far. He gets so close, but in the end it's not enough. I think Daryl probably feels a little crappy he didn't know Harden needed one more assist or FG. It sucks, but it's alright.

as heyp said, we fairly well proved that it he was indeed 1 point short. the elias sports bureau knows how many times someone has hit a double, then a single, then a 5-pitch at-bat triple on the 3rd wednesday of the month the most times in the 1930's; so i am willing to go with them on who accounted for the most points in an nba season. i do still find it quite disappointing that morey did not know about the record. not only because he is such a stats guy, but is a pretty good promoter of rockets players and this would have been a great thing to promote. but as mentioned, this seems to be how it goes for harden (as tough luck goes for multi-hundred millionaires).
