a 6th man candidate locked for 4 years and not even getting 15m per? yeah thats a steal and a risk to take.
If you consider that without ego and ryno we would have had a worse year and maybe not attracted CP3 then I think it balances out
I agree that Hardens are very rare. But IIRC, Morey has told the tale of how he spent an hour negotiating a contract clause that hinged on whether Harden would be an all-star. And then, as soon as he saw Harden playing with the team, he realized that the hour had been a waste because Harden was definitely going to be an all-star. So Morey wasn't certain how good Harden would be (and lots of pundits were skeptical, too), and to that extent, it was a bet that paid off.
Just because a small group of loud morons question Morey's every move doesn't mean people in general were dumbfounded. People may not have been thrilled, but the logic was abudently clear (value, value, and value).
Did you just started watching Rockets or what? Everyone was on board last year and I don’t recall people complaining about his contract. As matter of fact it was a bargain compared to the redicules contracts were given last year.
The fact that so many agree that EG needs to cooldown on the dunks etc in fear of injury is a testament to how valuable the fanbase feels he and his shot is to the team.
It was dumb luck who would have thought harden was going to be a top 50 player alltime and MVP candidate yearly? Because Morey has been quoted as saying even he didn't think he would be this good. And I meant dumb luck in the sense that player of his caliber that had shown what he had already on a finals team don't get traded still on their rookie deal. It's actually never happened before. I know Morey thought harden was going to be a top 15-20 player forsure but he didn't think he was going to be an MVP guy nobody did not even okc
