Took the kids and watched episode 2 being filmed .. it was a whole lot of fun and think this show is awesome
I just realized Sean Salisbury (former NFL backup QB, now a radio host) did commentary for the original Battlebots on Comedy Central for its first two seasons.
I love this show. I still have to watch the episode from this past week that I have recorded. bobloblaw : if you've watched any UFC/MMA, Kenny Florian has been doing commentary on some of the more recent seasons.
I also enjoy BattleBots. Well made show... starting with the ring announcer, the two commentators, and the stage (ring). The actual battles can sometimes be a letdown but many have pretty good action and destruction. And it seems that the designers (when not building silly robots like cheesburgers and frogs) seem to be pushing the envelop in destructive design. Its robot fighting time!
I must be the only person that finds Faruq annoying with his intros. It got to the point that they were so corny, I just fast forward through them now.
I like the over the top (on purpose) cornball intros/ jokes... 'Who is going to get the GIANT NUT this year?'
I suspect others do as well, as he is even trolling people with some of his corniest intros this season. Here's an older one, but it should be noted Faruq is from Philadelphia...
This is not going to be a good look when the AI becomes self-aware. "Yeaaaaah, humans, you remember when you made us fight to the death for fun?"
Seems "chomp" design robots don't usually do well... this current season there have been a few that have won, but normally ones that either flip the opponent (out of the ring) or have heavy and fast spinners (like Tombstone) that do the best.
