Which would be a mistake. IMHO I'm glad they haven't extended him yet, those knees worry me. With that said, if they used 10 mil of that cap space they would still have 20 mil to improve the roster. They passed and chose to hold on to the money.
I'm not jumping off of a cliff, The scenario's you speak of are true, but maybe Norwell/Solder would've gone to the team that offered them the most money like most NFL players. Like you said, we will never know. I think the OL has a chance to be better next year. Simply because they cant be worse. How much better we dont know. What would be an exceptable improvement for you? Me, top 20. I'm willing to wait and see how the OL situation plays out. I will make a bet with you, at some point Kelemete will be playing LT.
We offered Solders the farm and he turned it down so he can keep his wife close to their doctors. Before anyone else could offer Nowell anything, the Jaguars already made an offer he could not refuse. I'm expecting top 15-20. Fingers crossed because I just don't have much confidence in Obrien and his offensive lines coach. That's my approach as well. Wait and see. I really hope Davenport works out at LT. But if not I can see them sliding Kelemete over there. He has experience all over the line.
Um....u give him a 5 year contract, front loaded to the first 2 or 3. If there are issues...u cut him after. You do it now or it will cost you more if he has another great season. Then you have to franchise him......and try to work it out.
They didn't offer Solder more than the NYG's did, not saying I would have. But if Ithought that was the difference in keeping DW4 healthy I would've offered Solder more. The reason they didn't get Norwell is they either 1. Didn't realize what it would take to get Solder and I find that hard to believe after they surely talked to Solder's agent. 2. Were ill prepared if scenario 1. didn't work out. Not a good look for the Texans either way. IMHO
They offered him the same amount, which is more because of the taxes. But what's done is done so we have to go to the battlefield with what we have. Kelemete, Fulton and Fuller are solid addition imo. If Henderson could live up to his potential, Martin and Mancz stay healthy. Davenport surprises us. We are set.
agreed But there are a lot of ifs in this post. Logic says 2 or 3 will be good and 2-3 will not be good. If this happens they will still be better than last year. I've got no faith in Davenport and hope I'm wrong.
"Deshaun has been told he's the most important player in this organization" "ahead of schedule the whole time" "plan in place since June to what reps they will give him" "extremely happy where he is mentally; putting more on his plate"
I love reading daily Texans Twitter posts and fluff articles. A lot more than I should. Bring on training camp.
It's almost concerning that so many people - smart analysts, former players, radio hosts, fans - think the same thing. Some dude is being interviewed by Gotlieb right now on his show (some football analyst... not sure who) and just said 3 minutes ago he wouldn't be in any way surprised to see Watson as the top QB in the league in two years. It just doesn't seem possible!!! For the Houston football team???
