Indeed. That’s mind boggling. Obviously o-line wasn’t their only area of weakness but to barely address it at all in any meaningful way is mind boggling.
The offensive line has been addressed. We might not have gotten the players some of you guys wanted, but it was addressed. Can we not wait and see if the new addition will pan out or not.
Exactly. People are acting as if we're going to be running out the same crappy 5 linemen from last season. We've brought in a LOT of outside help on the line. Did we blow all of our cap space on someone like Nate Solder? No. But I'm willing to give the new guys a chance.
I mean they added bodies. Maybe those bodies gel together and turn into something competent or at least better. It's definitely possible. But relative to proportionally importance put on positions/groups, they obviously focused a lot more on defense... and heck, almost as much on TEs as on o-line. That said, I would not have advocated for spending HUGE money on Nate Solder either, and recognize they had the picks they had, couldn't really afford anymore to keep trading future picks to move up, and did draft an o-lineman with their 2nd third round pick. So my fingers are indeed crossed... just wish the o-line was better.
4 Bacckup OL. If 2 of them are upgrade and I think Kelemete and Fulton will be, and the other 2 Henderson and Davenport cant be worse than Clark or Gio, so I think the OL will still be well below avg but not as bad as last years OL. I just hope the Texans get lucky and DW4 stays healthy.
Got a Hopkins jersey for my birthday but it was wrong size. Went to exchange it and they were out of my size, so I grabbed a Watson jersey. Pretty pumped about it.
If you think it requires "luck" for Watson to stay healthy, that doesn't bode well for his career. I of course very much disagree. I think he'll be fine though he's unlikely to look as good as he did last season....because literally every player that has ever played football would be unlikely to continue playing at that level, but I think he'll be very good and he'll make fewer mistakes going forward and the improved O line should help him out quite a bit.
Found the on field jersey at nike outlet right after the season. I got an XL watson and a Medium Clowney for my wife for $30 each. Felt good man.
When I say luck I mean being lucky next yr. They really didn't do all they could with their cap space to protect DW4. I doubt the Texans will ever spend the money necessary in FA to get the best FA talent available. (Until McNair dies and Cletus sells the team) Even though the one time they did (2010 offseason) it lead to the two best years in franchise history.
They did everything within reason. They didn't so drastically overpay a highly overrated left tackle so that he'd ignore his family's wishes and pick Houston over NY, but other than that, they did a solid job. We'll see how it goes.
