Could have gone with either one. Really nothing separated them. Thought Verlander would get the edge due to age.

Personally glad Gerrit "I'm not an employee" Cole didn't get hardware. He can kick a can at Disneyland

    Congrats to Verlander.

Either could have won. Cole has a better peak this season and was simply incredible for the second half, but Verlander was consistent the whole year and pitched more innings. Verlander’s worst WHIP in any month was .92!

Keep hating on Cole for being a warrior. I applaud Cole. He still has the Astros in his Instagram and Twitter profile. He was just mad in the moment. Without Cole we probably dont get past the first round.

"Do I have to give this Cy Young winner speech? Do I really? Technically I'm not employed."

    :p

Not a hater bro. But JV led nearly all metrics and has a long resume. Cole will get his.

This. The fact he already has 3 runner-ups vs one CYA likely helped.

    Next up, MVP for Harden

I guess Verlander played too many seasons in Detroit and he'll likely go into the Hall of Fame as a Tiger, but a lot of his major milestones and achievements will be in an Astros uniform.

Verlander, look! Astros uniform in the HOF now? You can do it.

Witty do they string the awards out all week? I assume they have an MLB show for each that no one watches?

I recognize Ambassador's attempt to ensure Justin HOF Tiger.

Everyone gets their opinion though usually no matter how biased it is.

It's not quite as bad as the NBA's dumb awards show, but it's close. These are regular season awards. Announce and award them right after the regular season. If that causes drama and storylines for the playoffs, AWESOME! At the very least, no one cares after the season's been over for weeks, so just announce them all at once and be done with it.

Hopefully one of his milestones includes winning a fkin world series game. I sincerely pray for JV's sake that he doesnt pitch more then 180IP and is actually rested for the postseason this time.

Justin Verlander: awards named after himself - 0

Cy Young: awards named after himself - 1

The media cracks me up sometimes
