    Why didn't OKC advance?

Because OKC didn't surround Westbrook and PG with capable shooters like Houston did with Harden and CP3

I'm a big advocate of advanced stats, so one big thing that Westbrook has going for him is Moreyball assists. He led the league last season (Harden being 3rd) in assists at the rim and corner 3s, and he also led the league in assists leading to open shots that did NOT convert.

Those are things that CP3 cannot do because he has practically 0 gravity on offense.

Furthermore, with Westbrook, we are guaranteed an opportunity to rest Harden. CP3 requires incredible rest management, and even then you can still expect another 20 missed games. He also ages another year and will be even harder to keep healthy. We need to seriously begin managing Harden's minutes, especially since he is 30 and we do not want to burn him out.

Lastly, we cannot assume last season's bad shooting was a fluke for CP3. It could very well be the beginning of his decline, in which case trading him away now is an opportunity to extract value before it's too late. Even if he improves again this season, injury factors and another step lost for CP3 means the burden for Harden only continues to increase.

My two cents... as long as Harden is the player he is, I think he'll call the shots on Westbrook. But if he shows any slippage, he'll lose that control and the Rockets will look at all options.

Just my opinion, but I think this move was his desire and power play.

Adding my two cents....I think Harden is ruthless in terms of a championship pursuit. IMO...Harden made the power play for Westbrook because he lost faith in Chris Paul. And if Westbrook fails, I believe Harden will be fine with Morey moving on from RW for other assets.

I think the Rockets will give it a go this season. But the clock will start on Westbrook this summer depending on how things work out.

Have you heard any indications on how long this trade could drag out? I understand that the Rockets are probably looking to add someone to it and I'm assuming that the Thunder could want to hold off consummating the deal to potentially reroute CP3 with other players.

I guess if being “nails” is getting hurt and unable to play then yeah CP3 was nails. He seems to be nails a lot during the playoffs I suppose , except this year where he was just not anywhere close to max contract good.

It will be interesting what this discussion will be like a year from now. Putting everything in perspective, sports is all about entertainment and the bad is almost as entertaining as the good. The Texans are a case in point. They are so screwed up it is actually somewhat interesting and amusing. If the Rockets turn into a trainwreck, CluchFans will still be rocking. If they win it all we will be ecstatic. Either way, we will be entertained.

A healthy Westbrook is better than an unhealthy Paul. But a healthy Westbrook doesn't win us a chip.

A healthy Paul is better than a health Westbrook and wins us a chip.
