I think that even with the players we have now, if Capella comes back in game shape, if CP3 doesn't re aggravate his hamstring, if Harden does not fall off due to fatigue, and if Gordon gets back to what he is capable of shooting the 3 ball, if everything falls right I think we can beat the GSW. But that's a lot of ifs. Other players are going to have to come through for us as the rest of the league is going to throw two to three defenders at a time at Harden to try to slow him down and will continue to do so until we make the proper adjustments and hit our three's. Plus we are going to have start boxing out and getting more rebounds and playing better defense. If we can do all this I think we can win the whole thing this year.

 

Too bad aren't playing the Warriors tonight, because our guys will surely be ready to kick some butt after that last game.

 

If curry’s Ankles stay connected to his legs.
If Thompson doesn’t have to dribble.
If Durant isn’t already mentally checked out.
If green can forgive Durant for making them better.
If cousins can not destroy a locker room, or truly comeback from Achilles.

You forgot "if Curry cant play". Then i'll agree with you.

 

CP outplayed Curry in the series last year. I think you mean if KD doesn’t play. We have no answer for him.

Iman Shumpert, what was it about him?

We felt we needed one strong piece off the bench who could give us defense, shooting, playoff experience. Been to the Finals multiple times, won one. People will fall in love with him. Plays hard, does all the dirty work, great personality.

You've had success with the buyouts. (Rivers)

He was like the guard oasis. We were crawling through the desert with no one healthy. He came along. It was great for both him & us.

Kenneth Faried as well. Both these guys for the most part, it's gotta make you feel good.

It's a credit to Tilman Fertitta & the Rockets organization. People want to play here. They want to play for Mike D'Antoni, with James Harden & Chris Paul. That's why we're able to get these guys. Manimal - that's what he wants to be called - has been a manimal for us & unbelievable.

Your beard, what if the streak goes through the rest of the season?

I might be able to braid the beard by then. I'm rolling with it. They tell me it's slimming too so that's good. (Kevin: I was gonna say that.) Hahaha exactly. Everyone needs to lie to me & tell me that.

People don't realize how hard what he's doing is. He's made a shot that's impossible a good shot. He's been an elite driver. He can make elite passes. No matter how you guard him, he can counteract it. All that and his defense has ratcheted up to the best level of his career.

When you made that trade years ago, you said no one expects a Hall of Famer. How far has he exceeded expectations?

Very far. We thought he would be an all-star franchise guy we could build around. Hall of Famer is something you hope to do once in your career. My mission & our mission as an organization is how do we help him & Chris get a championship?

People talk about the buyout list or whatever, people don't forget you're gonna be getting Clint Capela back.

I know. He's our buyout pickup.

Another guy too, I remember when you drafted him, as good as he's gotten, I'm sure that's over the top as far as expectations.

Absolutely. We thought he'd be a good fit with James Harden. He's been way more than that. All-star level this year. In the East, he might have made it. In the West being an all-star is incredibly difficult. He's been incredible.
