My only problem with Clint as a building block will be his contract status. He's going to get paid next summer and if that's going to prevent us from potentially going after Lebron I say we bail. CP3 and Harden could make Asik into a 16/10 player
The only problem I have with Capela is that pretty soon he is going to get paid as a starting NBA center and the amount of minutes he plays might not warrant 20-25M/year. Last season, he had some conditioning issues. He only played 26mpg and MDA repeated brought up how Clint had some problems with his conditioning. If he can't get up to like 30-33mpgthis season then I would look to trade him while his stock is high. If he wants to get paid like a top 10 center, he needs to be on the floor as much as a top 10 center. If he can improve his stamina (and improve his post defense) then he is the ideal center for this team and certainly a player we can build on.
I have mixed feeling on Clint. Idk if he could do much without Harden. I do think he is a really good fit for the system though. The lobs he would receive this season especially with a third star to guard like Melo
Why does everyone think Clint will get DeAndre Jordan money (4 year / $87,616,050 contract) In fact some are thinking he will get more. I don't know if I buy that He is not DeAndre's defensive presence yet nor rebounder He will have to improve both If he worked on his offensive game he could be a beast worth keeping All said .. I think he is a fine to good player to keep. I am thinking more in the 12~16 Million Range Rocket River
He can't do much without Harden, but he still can be a defender/rebounder with more strength and better stamina as long as he doesn't lose his quickness. I have him down as a trade asset, but if he improves, he can become a building block.
I want someone who can rebound. Desperately. But right now he's a differentiator against Golden State (assuming he improves). He plays above the rim. He's explosive. If you cant make GSW pay for playing Draymond at the 5 you cant beat them. You cant lose Capela for a wing. Hopefully we'll have both Capela & T. Chandler by year's end.
Exactly. He's definitely a building block with our current squad and at that price tag but if anything else shakes loose in terms of a star he's out. Unless a desperate team like Brooklyn continues to be max offer sheet happy and presents one to Capela (highly unlikely) I don't see why he would be signed to more than 15 million per year for the next 3 years or so.
http://www.sportsonearth.com/article/215686520/nba-center-position-ranking-30 16. Clint Capela Capela's stock dipped a bit when the Rockets didn't skip a beat after he fractured his leg. But that doesn't mean he isn't one of the league's most lethal roll men or a perfect fit beside James Harden. Capela matches Steven Adams' per game numbers in about seven fewer minutes per game. His free-throw shooting is problematic, and could be exploited in the postseason. But he accomplishes what his team needs him to do, and right now that's more than enough. 15. Marcin Gortat 14. Steven Adams 13. Brook Lopez 12. Andre Drummond 11. Dwight Howard 10. Hassan Whiteside 9. DeAndre Jordan 8. Nikola Jokic 7. Al Horford 6. Rudy Gobert 5. Joel Embiid 4. Karl-Anthony Towns 3. Marc Gasol 2. DeMarcus Cousins 1. Anthony Davis Some of these are arguably PFs Rocket River
funny how his impact on the game is just as comparable as many guys on that list yet only makes $2-3 mil
After watching Clint's playoff performance against the spurs, I firmly believe he can be better than DJ one day. He has shown that he can be a great rim protector, good rebounder, and decent finisher. If you compare Clint's stats with DJ's at the same age, you can clearly see that Clint is indeed better. I expect him to grow fast in next few years, and become at least a top 10 center in the league.
