Definitely looks like an achilles judging from how initiating first steps looked difficult, while he looked comfortable when he got in motion. Also the fact that they were working his calf pretty much confirms it for me (I dealt with an achilles injury during my undergraduate days). Hope my "expertise" is wrong and it's just calf cramping. Horrible timing.

Let me clarify my original post and say it’s definitely not a torn Achilles, but either a sprain or flare up of tendinitis. I didn’t make that clear initially.

How bad is this sort of injury? Is it something that can heal up between game 2 and game 3?

Achilles? That's usually career ending unless it's just a mild sprain

    It's his achilles.

He lasted in the playoffs till game 2 of WCF before getting injured.

That's actually pretty good given his injury record.

I bet his brother never gets injured.

    Such is life.

sore Achilles probably...only thing that’s career ending is a full blown tear

What was that thing they were using. I only got a small look at it before the camera switch but it looked like a staple gun. lol

That'd be very, very cruel to both Chris & the Rockets.

Praying for Chris & his health.

Positivity...just some nagging soreness and this 4 day break will be all he needs.

Would he have still played if they knew it was an achilles? I don't understand why they would take that risk.

Exactly. If it was a torn achilles, he wouldn't have stayed in the game. He wouldn't be sitting on the bench.

It's concerning, but not worth overreacting to right now until we find out more about what it is

Probably more precautionary. He went out cause he picked up his 5th foul, not because of the injury.

Game never got close enough for him to need to push it.

Yao going down vs the Lakers was a real anti-climax.
