And now, ladies and gentlemen, may I proudly present to you The Great Cambino! Canaanball Run's successor for the running and gunning Murray State Racers has serious game and just might be the 2nd best fit for our Houston Rockets after D'angelo Russell flies off the draft board. Payne does not have the size or athleticism of some of the other PGs in this year's crop, but CF has always cared more about a player's game speed and actual impact on the court. And when it comes to basketball ability, Cam is a pick & roll ninja armed with a bevy of basketball instinct/talent. Payne also play's with a confidence and pace reminiscent of one D'angelo Russell. For a time I was leaning towards Kris Dunn @ 14, but now feel convinced Cam the Man's fit and overall skill set would actually work best with our team's needs and style of play. Naysayers will point to the inflated stats being a direct result of facing mid major competition, but I have a sneaking feeling that he crushes pre-draft workouts and starts being compared favorably to Memphis' Mike Conley.

He's slick on offense, but I would worry about his defense. I can't help but think he's not athletic enough to stay in front of a modern NBA 1. Who knows though, his IQ may be one that allows him to anticipate the faster players.

I would imagine this kid can be AT LEAST as good as Prigioni (who in his own right, has been pretty good for us).

Could possibly evolve into the backup playmaker behind Harden. But not the starting point guard.

Our starting point guard has to be a defensive difference maker. A long, athletic player who is quick and can jump screens and get his hands up and change shot trajectory of the opposing point guard (guys like Curry, RB, CP3) and deflect/steal passes. To go along with that if they can spot up and shoot it efficiently from 3 that would be ideal. Payne doesn't meet that defensive criteria. Good playmaker potential but not a defensive difference maker.

Watch the playoffs. If we advance you're going to see Corey Brewer as the primary point guard defender on guys like Paul and Curry. This is why I'm high on Kris Dunn.

Cam and Kris are far and away the two PGs I'd want after Mudiay/Russell are gone.

The lack of any NBA 3pt range is a concern

Sounds promising. Wouldn't McHale just bury him though?

    Dunn??

Ain't worried about it. He basically just played his freshman year. And his mechanics are solid. His 3-ball will likely develop very nicely.

He's rising too fast. I don't think he will be there at 18.
